I am well versed in the mechanics of SEO and work with some of the country's foremost experts on the subject matter, so it was interesting when they called a friends place of business and he handed the phone to me. The sale rep immediately inferred his company was "under agreement" with Google to verify listings, whatever the hell that meant. The cost? $295. I said time out, that you are speaking to an expert in this field and I know Google does not enter into such agreements with outside marketing companies and why would I pay for something I can easily do myself for free? His reply? None, as I was handed off to his alleged manager. The manager comes on and says I could mow my lawn for free or I could pay a landscaper to do the work for me, and this is not different. They will make sure information on my business is Google friendly, for a price of course. I said thanks, but not thanks you people are either toeing a very thing legal line or you have crossed it. The moral of the story? Forget these marketing companies. Conning small businesses today on SEO strategies and tactics is rampant, and one rule of thumb to remember is if they call you, chances are damn near 100% they are snake oil salesmen looking for another stooge. The real SEO experts are very busy and don't, for the most part, hawk their services in this manner. Steer clear of the phone bank callers promising internet magic.

i was contacted just now by a telemarketer using an 818 Area code number. This guy had my cell phone number, my business DBA and my name. They claimed that my google listing was going to expire and that I needed to pay them 299 to keep it forever. What a crock! This is fraud and they should be held accountable. I told the guy I never heard such a thing. I freelance privately and not interested. That said I would never give anyone money over the phone without checking out the business and asked him for his contact information. He hung up quickly but did leave me a name and phone number to contact him. After checking out the company seems this is an ongoing scam. People you can list your site and business thru the Google business web tools and it's free. Don't be fooled. Be on the alert from cold calls from this company and they are using numbers disguising their location as local.

I also received a call today from a fast talking salesman. If you weren't paying attention you might think he was from Google. He said our business listing had never been claimed and would be taken off of Google. Sounded suspicious. He then said for $299- he could make sure we retained our listing. I asked him the name of the company he worked for and he said Loyal 9. I told him the whole idea sounded strange to me and I would have to do some checking on the internet. Boy am I glad I did.

I received this unwanted call from apparently Verizonwireless on behalf of a 3rd party. This is harassment and it should be stopped. It is obvious that those "so-called" leaders in Congress in their infinite wisdom allowed a gigantic loophole to be left in the Do Not Call law allowing various organizations to harass innocent taxpaying telecommunication customers. Verizon, please clean up your act!!!

I called back - was given the option to be placed on a 'do not call list'. Done. THEN I added this number to my blocked callers in my phone. If they do call back - I will never get it.

awhile back 262-995-9092 kept calling and calling....so I saved in my contacts as "DO NOT ANSWER".The last two days the "DO NOT ANSWER" called 5 times in a row on Dec. 9th, and then 3 times in a row on Dec. 10th.I checked the missed call listing on my phone # and the number now comes up as 702-826-5454.

Yup just got an unsolicated call from this phone number / didn't recognize the number / googled it instead and sure enough ita appears to be a telemarketer call / did not leave a message (of course not)!And yes I am on the DONOT CALL LIST

just got another annoying call to my cell. average only 1 call per wek always at 4:24pm (edt) i just let it go. i have reported to www.donotcall.com but the calls continue . going on 3 weeks now they are persistant those bass tards
