I just got a call on my cell from that number - so I tried calling it back and it says it's a non working number. How can that be, when the number just called me!
Robo call from telemarketer. Very rude when I ask for their name. Asked to be placed on the do not call list, but was told "it will never happen". Normally when I ask for their name they just hang up. Get a few a week. Saved as contact on my phone, now phone is set to block it.
I have received 3 calls from this number in the past 5 days. If this is not a legitimate area code, how can someone use it?
This has been a multiple-times-a-day hang-up call. Too bad no one does anything about phone criminals, I guess they'd have to hold a gun to my head through the phone line for someone to consider going after them. So sick of this.
would it be GREAT to get a law passed that made it ILLEGAL for phone companies to give ANY BUSINESS a number that is unlisted or un-callable.We WANT TO HARASS the companies that CALL US.right??
there has been 10 atleast credit card companies calling from area codes i have no clue. says do you want lower your credit card interest rates. when you get someone the phone and begin to put on do not call list they hang up on you and then you try to call back and the number does not exsist. time to get the police involved on harrassment i get atleast 2 a day. . horrible. i never gave a credit card company my number. thanks
It already is illegal to make these calls, but our elected representatives and phone companies are too inept or unwilling to go after these criminals. These are identity thieves, phishing for personal information they can use to ruin our lives. This is the same group of thugs behind "Rachel" and "Anne," etc., at "Cardholder Services". We get a half dozen calls a day. Thinking of canceling our phone service, since it has been taken over by 3rd world criminal scum anyway. Call Type is IDENTITY THIEVES
If those calls are from the the so-called "credit card services" to lower your interest rate, all who read this should be advised to never give them information of any kind - period! Any legitimate credit card company will not make automated offers like that over the phone.I called my credit card member service to find out if they were making this offer. They assured me it was not them but rather scheming criminals seeking to get your sensitive information. The advice given to me was, one should never give out sensitive personal information unless you know and trust the company and you have verified they are actually the company you have made the call to. You should only give them the information if they need it but only after you have initiated and verified the company. When call the number back you try to call to get your number removed, they will tell you that it is a marketing company and that it will take 72 hours to get it removed. That is just a ploy and your number will be sent to the other countless numbers (in 2012 they used 21 different ones to my phone) they use to hook you. I have made a contact entry in my phone contacts list that I have named "DO NOT ANSWER." Right after I receive one of those calls, I call back to see if it meets the criteria of one of those mystery callers. If it does, it gets added to the existing contact "DO NOT ANSWER" so that when they call next time, I just look at the caller ID and don't answer it. I hope someone out there finds this helpful.
It is the FTC, not the FCC, that would be in charge of this problem. The FTC has already declared, multiple times, that they have cracked down on this illegal activity. They have not. I think the phone companies need to be compelled by law to stop allowing calls from "spoofed" caller ID's -- that would stop the scam immediately.
