I finally answered this call several weeks ago, as I usually do not answer a number I am not familiar with. They are looking for some woman who lives is a city 200+ miles away from me. I told them that city does not even have the same area code as mine. Then again this morning they call again. They were not rude, just told me that were looking for this person. I told them I have had this number for 18+ years and I live 200+ miles away. You'd think they could double check the area code (although I guess this woman could have a cell phone from my area). Maybe they want to send someone to my home to finger print me???
The number just called work and demanded a call back by 9pm tonight. Nice that they got my team lead at work, I got the message and no answer when i called back. how and where did they get my work phone number as there is no validity for them to be contacting me at work.
They said they were not a telemarketing but I needed to call them by 9 pm tonite. UFC showed up on the caller id
If you worked in collections, you would know that the FDCPA has nothing to do with them calling your mom's house. They can call 5 times a day if they want to. As long as they're not talking to the debtor each time, it's not considered in violation. I hope you're not at a collection agency I'll ever work for. P.S.I'm not trying to be "high & mighty" since I'm a collector, they call me as well..I just didn't know who they are and looked it up. Yes, they're looking for me. Just know what you're talking about.
These people call anywhere between 5 to 30 times in a week. They have called on holidays, weekends, even after 10 pm at night once in a while. I have called them back numerous times and they get arrogant,and just plain nasty on the phone that is when they do answer it. They insist I owe a debt to them for some credit card that I've never had. After explaining or trying to explain to these people that it was impossible they sent me to some sort of answering system. They refuse to stop calling. This is well over the line of harassment in my book.
