This is currently happening to me. Kim Williams. I got a check today for 2,550.00 to pay movers my itenm was 300.00 Its scary and I am going to the police to report it.
I got one from Maria too. It was in response to a craigslist add. She also told me she would call me from a tty. Then she said she would mail a check & to send her my name and address. After reading this, I just responded with "Cash only sale". Thanks so much for the heads up!
I also got the same from:janetiscole@wikizplc.comHope someone finds this a-hole and sticks them in prison for a long time!
This is the same exact email I received from Kim Williams. I knew it sounded wierd. I posted and ad on Craigslist and she responded instantly. I was not using a computer that had of my personal information, so I responded. She got part of my name and I did not give my address either. A check did show up today. I have printed my email and these post so that I can report it as well. Im glad I checked into that email address as well.
Please tell me how this guy is profiting from his operation? Is he just doing it be a jerk?
More emails to red flag as scammers with same msg - bfdfe3@operamail.combdfrder32@operamail.comzvd394@operamail.comalanissfisher@wikizplc.com
Hi, thanks so much for all of these helpful posts. It looks like Kim Williams is also Katie Minton (katiemintonx@wikizplc.com). The first message I rec'd was inquiring whether my table was still available - this came from katie mintonwhich I thought was weird, but figured it was just the way Craig's List sets up e-mail within the system. I did reply, so she (he?) got my full name. That's when I rec'd the second message exactly like everyone else's (thanks for the response, movers will pick up, delete the posting, can't communicate bec deaf, etc.)Someone mentioned that the scammer never uses the name of the item you're selling. My table was called both the item and the piece. Does anyone know what they can do with my info? I'm not going to reply back, and will report to Craig's List as well as my local police. This very discouraging as I've had great luck renting my apt and selling stuff here and there on CL.
I just received a bizarre craigslist response (and pretty much identical to what I am reading here) for my ikea bureau. I immediately thought it was odd but couldn't find any information on the name or email address until I just typed in 'Jennifer Garcia Scam' and found you guys!! It's so bizarre! Would a check actually arrive? I just emailed them that I knew it was a scam and wanted to be removed from their list (I fell for sending my mailing address as her reasoning was that she was disabled and unable to meet me at my home). When I wrote her about using PayPal, she responded "I can pay via check only so get back to me with the requested information" which seemed a little curt. How are they actually benefiting from this process of finding addresses? Isn't there a phone book full of them??
