I received this phone call also. Could not return the call to the #. It just has person saying do you want to change the # you are calling from. I am on the do not call list and We do not need to be harassed by this sort of thing.
My advise to all! Don't answer the phone. You don't have to hear a sales-pitch that is never asked.
I am on the National Do Not Call List. This call was unsolicted, and it is concerns me that they are calling my number even after having registered with the DNC registry.
Just received a letter from Tom Corbett, Attorney General of Pennsylvania after reporting similar repeated calls from a place in Florida. He wrote: "My office is attempting to identify this company and the source of these calls. Often times these sorts of telemarketers block the number or provide false information using specific technology to mask their identity. We will continue to work with the information that we have received and other tools that we have available to identify and stop these calls. We appreciate you taking the time to help us in out efforts". My advice is to keep reporting the name, number, and caller ID to your Attorney General's office. I have reported EVERY call of this nature to DoNotCall.gov and instead, they seem to be increasing. The last time an Indian/Pakistani voice told me he worked for MASTERCARD, and provided me, without asking, a callback number of 1-800-VISA911 (I'm not kidding, VISA911 for MASTERCARD). I informed both VISA and MASTERCARD (I have both), and will continue to file complaints until somebody gets tired of hearing from me and finally does something about these scams.
I just thought of a better idea: Every time I get one of these calls I am going to listen to their spiel, keep them on the line as long as I can, and then I will call my Attorney General and relay everything that was said (So I said, and then he said, so I said, and then he said), and I will attempt to be as annoying as possible and maybe it will finally sink in that they have to start sending subpoenas to the phone companies to unmask these Indian/Pakistani scam artists. Just realized I can also record a conversation with my new ATT Digital Answering System ($39.95 from Radio Shack); now I'm hoping to get one of these calls tomorrow!
Got a call from this number, did not answer and they did not leave a message on answering machine.
I called the number back today (hit dial from the callerid screen) and got a voice recording that reads back the number from which I called them, and then gave me the option to have that number removed. Not sure if it will work, but worth a try.
Called noon today. Asked if I still owed $4K on my credit cards. When I asked what number he was calling, he hung up.When you call this number back, you get a recording of an Indian woman asking in a heavy accent if you want to be removed. No other options that work. No company identification on caller-id, except NewMarket, MD.Reverse lookup identifies the number as unlisted, further digging identifies it as Core Communications, Frederick, MD.
I get a call from this number almost every day offering to lower my credit card rates and trying to get my credit card numbers. My caller ID only identifies the caller as "301-882-9986 New Market, MD." I asked them to quit calling my number, but now it's almost as if they are calling to harass me. I tried to contact my phone company, AT&T, about these calls but all AT&T wanted to do was to sell me "products and services for managing unwanted & annoying phone calls." AT&T is no better than the scammers that are harassing me.
