Getting frequent calls to my cell from this number. They never leave a message and unless they do, they'll never get a call back. The phone number is not listed on Univ Chicago's website.
Invading the privacy of citizens is disgusting and so are you. Have a loud whistle ready for these jerks. Talk softly so they turn up their headgear, then blast away. If it doesn't stop the calls right away, repeat.
NORC at the University of Chicago seems to be a legitimate and long-standing organization that does "social research" for a myriad of government and private organizations -- since 1941! A simple bit of research (i.e., Google "NORC U CHICAGO" will yield a considerable amount of valid information.Having said that: This is an "independent" social research organization. It is NOT the CDC or any other actual government entity. One might then reasonably question: This "independent social research organization" (a private organization with employees earning from as little as $8K to as much as >$89K per year) as per data on GlassDoor (one of the results of the Google search). Why is the government/CDC using them to "robo-dial" citizens randomly to conduct surveys about childhood immunizations?I'm not implying they're "evil" or "spoofing telemarketers." But even accepting the validity of their/CDC's goals, to do such a survey so "randomly" without using available data to identity and only call/survey people who have young children is simply ill-conceived, poorly thought out, and extremely inefficient. The people at NORC at the University of Chicaga are - as noted on GlassDoor - quite well-paid for the social research they conduct. However valid their effort and goal, this appears to be just another wasteful expenditure of public funds. Oh, look ... the government wasting tax payer money! Shock, allors! So - it's a valid, ostensibly legitimate organization trying to do what is likely valid (if inefficient) research. You can NOT answer the phone and move on.Answer the phone and participate if you wish.Simple.One final request: If you don't have reasonably validated information to add to the discussion, or if you only want to make insulting and sophomoric comments about others posters, please don't bother. There is a massively overabundant supply of stupid in the world already; let's not keep adding to it.
You are right. I too received a notice from CDC recently stating that they would be calling to do a survey (completely unwanted on my part). They've already called three times this weekend, including just moments ago, & I have every assurance that they will continue to do so throughout the coming weeks.
You guys must be having a bad day in the privacy invasion business due to sites like this that disseminate the truth about your filthy business. Fact is, your victims (the suckers who actually agree to disclose information that is none of your business, or the government's), have no idea where their information goes or how it will be used. Oh, I'm sure you have all the requisite controls in place, right? Right? LOL. Can't identify you right? SURE!Nothing valid about it. NOTHING.
It's an organized invasion of PRIVACY. Having the NSA use our tax money to spy on us isn't enough, you scum get paid with our tax money to do it as well.NOBODY is obligated in any way WHATSOEVER to put up with you. You deserve to get hung up on. You actually deserve much worse, but hanging up will do for now.
Thank you for your fact-filled and meaningful addition to the discussion.I believe you have just very soundly made one of my points.
