Received call from 352-352-1234 on cell phone. Did not answer; this is my normal practice for numbers I do not recognize. Caller did not leave a message.
The GE smoke detector scam has been around for years and I wouldn't be surprised if it is still the same people doing this. If you google VMS alarms, the third search hit at forum.dvdtalk.com has quite a bit of info about them. Apparently Attorney General Tom Corbett has already fined them for do-not-call violations.
Received a call claiming to be GE Security, english was horrible, asked to be removed from list and they hung up immediately. I am on federal no call list and this has to be a violation!!!
I'm a receptionist at a my job. I got this call three or four times in the past hour on the work phone so decided to look it up. I give my greeting, and they say "Hello?" and then hang up. How annoying! I can hear other people in the background, so I figured it was some telemarketing agency. But it's apparently a scam. Thanks for letting me know!
Same here. I won a security system. Could hardly understand the guy. Said no thanks and hung up. This was also on my cell phone.
Got a call did not answer. No message left. Very random. Maybe these people should get a life, instead of bothering others!!
Just got a call from this number after canceling a credit card less than an hour before because of airline tickets bought on it by someone falsely using our number. The voice just sang the word "sianara". We were concerned that this was a threat.
Got a call from this number and was told that we were selected to receive a free security system from GE. Tried to get off the phone and the individual kept getting louder and more intimidating but the accent was so heavy that I could hardly make out what was actually being said by the caller. Finally hung up on the caller since he would not shut up and listen....
Recieved the call at 1846 hrs, Caller ID said Florida Call. Caller had a heavy accent and I could hear other people talking in the background. Said he was from GE something or other, was marketing a "free" $1200 alarm system...monitoring for "less than $1 per day"...I've been on the national do not call registry since it began, also updated to permanent a couple of years ago and my number is unlisted. So, I don't know if they are just "cold calling" or have gotten a list of phone numbers from some retailer.
