"Hello i am call about computer." I laughed and hung up. This scam was even on the news. Be warned some scamers have switched back to "you are hacked" pop up web ads. Plz people dont fall for this crap.
Got a call from this same number & they said they were calling about our computer. We told them to stop calling and he demanded access to our computer! We said no and we are calling the police. Go ahead he said I'm not hanging up. Give me access to your computer! We hung up. Waited a minutes & they were still on ghe line.
I received the same phone call, stating that my computer was being hacked. I asked if he was referring to my work computer or my home computer. He stated that it was for my home computer. I told him that I don't have a home computer. He asked if I was sure. Like, really? No, I wasn't sure whether or not I had a home computer. The I said I had a laptop, but I haven't used it in years. And then I told him that my computer is in storage, in Florida; I live in Colorado. He said my e-mail address is being hacked. I told him that I don't even use that e-mail address anymore and had no idea what he was talking about. Then he said that he was referring to my smart phone and my wi-fi. That someone was hacking my wi-fi from my phone. I was like, "yeah, no, I have no idea what you're talking about". And he said, "if that is your wish, have a nice day" and hung up. Bizarre.
Received a similar call. She indicated I she was receiving hacking notifications from my "server" and I immediately went into full investigator mode. My first question "What evidence do you have to support that claim?" to which she could not come up with a valid answer so I inquired further. I reported that I do not even own a Windows machine and that should could not possibly be receiving notifications from Microsoft about my computer. She repeated her intro message before getting frustrated and swearing at me. She hung up on me. That was fun, and I think I will continue dealing with people in this manner.
They keep calling my cell. Since I don't answer the 3683006771 they call from a different number a few minutes later. I don't answer that number either. I wished there was a way to stop these scammers. The other day my cell rang and it came up with my own cell calling itself. That was pretty funny. I answered and it was a woman with an accent saying she wss from the treasury department and there is a a law suit against me. I said you are a scammer goodbye and hug up on her as she was still speaking. I called my cell carrier and they said they were going to check into it.
Indian woman called saying she was from Microsoft Security department "Someone is trying to hack your computer". Interesting.. I guess my disparate computer is aligned to my personal cell. I throw out "I dont own a computer" she goes "bye bye click". Scam city.
Unkown number, so did not answer. Did not leave a message. For what it's worth, Microsoft is primarily a Software company. They now also put their brand on some laptops, etc. However, they are not in the business of tracking home networks, or home computers, and they darn well better not be tracking your use of their operating system in any personally identifiable way. What's more, how in the world do you think they could figure out WHO is using their software in the first place, let alone then be able to figure out what that person's cell phone number might be?If you get duped by this ridiculous scam because you are so dense that you don't even know what Microsoft does, then you deserve the consequences. They don't make money by tracking specific computers. All it would do is bring public attention to the fact they were so hackable. Plus, it would cost them a fortune to use the resources such tracking would take. They're in business to make money, not waste it.There should be a minimum threshold intelligence test before you are allowed to own and operate a computer. The rest of us would be safer. (Same for driving privileges.)
