Received call from 368-300-6771. A man stating he was with Microsoft. When asked what he wanted, he hung up. Lots of office noise in the background.
I received the exact same phone call. A woman called and had the same message as you posted here. I asked, "Sorry, why are you calling me?" twice, and then she just hung up. Indian accent, but not so thick as others I've heard.
Called 3 Time Just This Morning In 10 Minute Time Frame
Very similar experience as reported by others. My call came to my cell phone while I was waiting to board a flight at an Idaho airport. The caller was male, said his name was "Justin", claimed he was from Microsoft tech support, and despite his accent, he was reasonably easy to understand. I played along with him to see how much I could learn. My laptop was booted and connected to the internet when he called me. He eventually had me access a website (www.sup16.tk) that led to a screen that displayed a pre-download warning that I was about to save "Supremo.exe" to my laptop--- an executable that, if installed, would give him remote desktop control of my laptop. Needless to say, I made it clear that I would not be downloading and installing any executable despite his pleas to "show me what the hackers are doing to you." At that point, I told him that my plane was about to board, and I requested a number to use to call him back when I finally got home. He gave me the number "302-482-8155 Ext 5577". If you search on that telephone number, you will see that others have reported that is one has been used for similar scam attempts.
Asian male with fake American accent, claiming to call from Microsoft office informing me that my windows computer is hacked. I don't even have a Windows machine.
