Additionally, many of these numbers are spoofed Google Voice numbers and the callers aka criminals are often based outside the jurisdiction of US law enforcement. The criminal element will always be there, as long as you are not being naive, you should be fine. Common sense is the best weapon against these scammers, just don't answer unknown numbers. If it is important, they will leave a voice message.
Just got a call from this number & don't know anyone from Rhode Island. Didn't leave a voicemail either. I blocked the number from my cellphone.
I get calls from this number constantly - I was getting multiple calls daily from Sirrus wanting me to RENEW my service that I have NEVER had so I blocked their number. Now 401-583-4565 comes up daily as SCAMMER BLOCKED. I think the only number I have blocked were the PESTS from Sirrus.
The people keep calling my cell and not leaving a message. Don't try calling 401-583-4565, because it comes back as "..not in service, Cox Communications". Their # is based outta Rhode Island. Funny I work in RI. Maybe I'll track them down and give them a piece of my mind. And yes, I am a bill collector.
This 401-583-4565 came to my cell phone at 10:37 today, 2/20/15. I did not answer, but googled it and saw these messages. I have since added it to my own do not answer list. I am on the do not call list, but the do not call list obviously does not work.
Spam. Medical something or other's for seniors. I answered, only because business contacts in RI are common for me, then next thing I know is the sales pitch, then press 1 to speak with a representative. I have my cell and home number's registered on the Do Not Call lists, and in the last month, at a minimum of two random area cod call's, and I don't answer. Each time I look up the number's its a spam number. I block the number's, and yet more and more they roll in
