This number has called us before but they called today and when I answered I got:#: Hello? Hello? Hello?Me: (Business name)#: Oh, I... I think I have the wrong number.Me: Uh... okay?#: (silence) *click*THIS IS SOMEONE VERIFYING THAT A REAL PERSON WILL ANSWER----Sorry that I did answer, now I THINK NOW I HAVE BEEN PUT ON THE TELEMARKETERS LIST>>>>>>Sigh!!
If you're hearing ... "Hello? pause... waiting for you to answer "Hello" and then they say "Hello" again... and pause so you can comment to something... and then they finish with "Sorry... I think I've have the wrong number."The caller's "Hello... etc." is simply a recording. It's a tactic robos use to see if your phone number is still active. If you answer or it goes to voicemail they know they have an active number and add it to their list of fresh valid phone numbers that they in turn sell to other companies wanting to buy a recent fresh list of numbers so they can now spam/scam/robo/phish you.
Called the office, said "Hello?! HELLO?! Oh sorry, I've got the wrong number." and hung up.
Obviously a telemarketer of some kind. 3 or 4 rings. no msg. They hang up. I do not pick up unfamiliar calls. What ever happened to the govt no call list? Apparently not worked for the past couple of yrs.So very sad. The public has no privacy or rights.
I automatically add these types of calls to a contact on my iPhone called Telemarketer. I have 100+ junk phone numbers there. I have the Contact "Telemarketer" blocked. These calls just go away
The federal Do Not Call list is just a list of phone numbers. It is not a call blocker.Legitimate telemarketers use the list to avoid calling people.Legitimate charities, survey companies, and political candidates and organizations are exempt for having to use the list; they can call anyone - but the law and regulations require them to accept your request to be put on an internal do-not-call list. Scammers never look at the list, unless they steal it from someone else. Instead, they get lists of people to call from data brokers, or steal information from businesses, or simply dial all possible numbers in an area code + exchange, randomly. Some of them have "sucker lists" of people who are gullible or easily threatened.
Called and asked to Verify address. I asked who wanted to know. He said Chamber of commerce. I knew it was BS right away. Then asked which one and he said "American chamber of commerce. Scammers/phishers for sure.
