I, too, thought it was a telemarketer and finally called the number (after getting the annoying hang-up when my answering machine picked up).It's the Gallup polling organization in Omaha, Nebraska.

This pretty much happened to me a couple of weeks ago, while i was out eating. While waiting for slow service and bored...I took the survey...asked anywhere from medical coverage, political, race, all kinds of stuff. Said was a gallup poll survey out of Nebraska...definitely going to watch my credit report..hopefully nothing will come of it....

How do they get your number ?? I answered the call and went along with it. I was mislead as to the nature of the survey, FIRST I was made to beleive it was a "Cell Phone" survey, I was asked if I had a landline, if I used my cellphone for business or personal use, I was even asked if I was talking on a cell phone. Then he started asking me political questions about Obama performance approval and what is the biggest problem the US faces, at that point I terminated the call.

I am on the Do Not Call List. I have an unlisted number I pay dearly for. I got this call from 402-952-4444 on SUNDAY night at 7:30 PM. Doesn't help relaxing on a weekend. I did not answer it but logged it. I will report it to the Federal Complaint for violation of Do Not Call List. I also got a great product, a Caller ID Manager from Privacycorps.com and have blocked that area code from ever ringing my phone again.

One of my family members used to work for Gallup, they do call customers of banks (like us bank) for surveys, I don't answer the phone, but I know it's at least legitimate, but still, be on the safe side and never give account info or anything!

Its fun to read all the comments, especially when people type in ALL CAPS and when they're really mad they put spaces I N B E T W E E N! I think people need to get over it...you have a phone, this is part of owning one. I was called by the number and google'd it just to see who it was; but now I'm one of those who writes on a website like this. Cliche!

Forgot...also you can download an app on android that you can block incoming calls from numbers you dont want to get through. I have....

I hate to tell you all this, I work with Gallup. WE deffinatly dont sell anything we do serves only. The companys we are contracted with are regions bank, wakovia,cnn, etc. The thing is the DO NOT CALL LIST PERTAINS ONLY TO {TELLEMARKETERS} At gallup we dont sell anything, so the 1800 do not call list doesnt affect gallup b/c there are no items we sellSORRY!!
