Call Fred Flemming, Senior Marketing Manager at Toronto Star to tell him permanently to get you off their list. His direct number is 416-869-4957
I worked as a telemarketer for newspaper sales a few years ago when I was 18, and what many don't realize is that most people who take this job do so because they don't have the experience or education for something better at the moment. Many are going to school to better their education, and many have more then one job to try to support their families. All I am saying is that the person on the other end of the phone is a human being too. Please don't yell, scream, swear at us or call us vulgar names. How would you like it if someone spoke that way to your wife or daughter? We are calling because it is our job, not to harass you. I realize that people often ask to be removed from our list, but please keep in mind that it often takes time for the list to be updated, and is not the fault of the person calling you that moment if this doesn't happen. Also keep in mind that we must make sales not just to make money, but to keep our jobs. It is very high pressure. I was called every vulgar name you could think of on a regular basis, but one of the worst experiences was when a man I had called was angry I had disturbed him. I apologized, but then said he would buy a subscription if I would say, "I am sorry for disturbing Mr. X and I deserve a good hard spanking for being such a bad girl." Since I was so desperate for the sale to keep my job, I had to repeat this humiliating phrase, not once, but twice because he wanted me to say it louder. After that he just hung up the phone. Please don't take the advice of people who say to yell or curse the next time someone calls them. Everyone deserves kindness and respect
We'll see about that. I was so fed up of the daily stuff I called them and actaully got someone and they claim to not have me on the list so I warned them they're going on today Stop calling. Maybe the fines aren't enough of a deterent.I have heard complaints people get more calls after getting on this list.Wish me luck.
Three times I've come home to find that NCC Inc (416) 630-5150 has called. No message left. Two of the times I was home. Picked up the phone ... "Hello" ... no reply ... click. Hang up. I'll know in the future when I see the number displayed, I'll pick-up and then hang up. I thought telemarketers were no longer allowed to bother people on the phone? I guess the "do not call" registration via the Government has gone down the tubes.
