I got a call from these people too...asking for money....Dumb people started threatening...wanted my banking info. Poor A*&%%holes.
I got a call for the first time today from this number and like I do with all numbers I don't know I didn't answer it. Instead I looked it up and found this site. Now, the number they are calling is a pay-as-you-go cellphone through Telus. I had been getting calls on my cellphone from another collection agency for a Micheal Evoy/Avoy so this might be the for the same person, I don't know, but it is rather interesting how in the past four months I've started getting collection agencies calling me on a number I've had for almost a year -_-
This number calls me at least once a day, and I never answer it as it is a long distance number. They never leave a message either. Its becoming very irritating.
So, I get this call at 7:24 am from 1-888-226-0228. I'm on the road driving to work. It's the law here in Ontario not to talk on a hand held device while driving. 10 mins later I get a call from 416-673-1299. Like many of you I don't call back numbers that are unknown, and don't leave messages. I as well am using up my airtime to call them back from my cell phone. It does cost and it is expensive. I did end up calling back the number, only to be forced to listen to a message saying that this is an urgent matter etc... your call is being forwarded to an agent... then you're put on hold for a long time. So, I just hang up. I owe money to my HBC (Hudson Bay Company) credit card. Money has been tight with the gas prices shooting up. Even when I make the minimum balance payments, I still get these debt collectors calling me until my name is cleared from there system. Which can take up to two weeks. So... I'm going to pay off my HBC card in due time, then cut it up. And shop elsewhere. As for the debt collector agency, they are rude. Half of them don't speak english. I have been cursed out by one of them. HBC, I understand that you need to use a debt collector agency. But you need to find a new one. One that conducts themselves appropriately with your customers.
on the advice of the Ministry of Consumer Services, i sent the following email to them at: ATTN: the President of CBV Collections,i have been receiving daily phone calls during the week from your company (416-673-1299) on my cell phone.i have nothing to do with your company. i deem this to be harassment.you must remove my cell phone number ***-***-**** immediately from your phone list and stop calling me or i will escalate this complaint to the Ministry of Consumer Services._________________________name
I got a calll from this number 416-673-1299. No message left. I called back but the called went to a collection agency office with 800 number.
Got an automated call about an "urgent business matter" at 7:35am - “all our agents are busy, someone will right with you” but after waiting out of curiosity for over 7 minutes I gave up
I also get calls from this number at least 3 to 5 times a day. In the morning, afternoon and night. They never leave a message. I'm getting tried of these calls. I never answer calls that don't display a name.
