Uh oh.This is some type of scam.It is mother's day and my husband just left to use the bank machine and the bank machine error message said, "your account has been declined. It might have been compromised, visit visit customer service about your card."But I checked the bank account online and the money was all there.Then 5-minutes after he had returned and taken my card instead, this number called me.Someone's got access to our information somewhere and is generating these calls.Who here uses the Scotiabank? We do, and when my husband used his Scotiabank card, the error message appeared. Glynis

I live in Michigan and all of these posts scare the heck out of me. I don't have, know of or do business with Scotia bank. I love this service and other sites like it, but I don't know what to do now that I have received a call from this obvious scam number....any suggestions?

I just received a call from them at 18:00. The women said she was working for ScotiaBank. She asked me if I had purchase anything at walmart and the liquor store yesterday. I replied no and said someone had copied my credit card. She also said that they where going to cancel this card and send another one at my home.I then called my parents, and they said that the Bank was trying to contact me...is this for real or not...

Hi everyone,My husband and i were at the bank a few weeks ago. We were going away for the weekend, when the bank machine stated on the screen that his card may be compromised, to go to the nearest branch or call the number you are all questioning. We were at a Scotiabank branch at the time so we went in. They switched over our cards to the new ones with the Chip on it. It's an extra security measure against the A-holes who have nothing better to do than steal your cash because they are too lazy. Anyhow, go into the bank and talk to them. Sometimes they may not be aware of the phone call being made so call it when you are AT the bank to ensure it's not a scam. All i know is that little message on the bankmachine saved our bank account from being stolen.

Received a call from 1-416-750-6018 on January 5th, 2010, at 4:39pm.Did not recognize the number on the call display & did not answer.(I do have a mortgage with Scotiabank.)

This number has called 4 times in the past 2 months leaving no message. Since they call during our dinner time, they're probably telemarketracketeers.

It's a legit scotia bank caller, my visa was hacked from online shopping and a bunch of transactions were going through on the same day so they called. They don't pry for info, they just ask if you authorized the purchases this day, they list off then tell you confirm what was the last you actually purchased.

cards cut up, will get a new one at my bank in 5 days.

It is Scotia Bank. They just called me to confirm a transaction I had just made with my Debit Card. Its real. Its nice to know that they are looking after our money!
