This was regarding my Visa card with Scotia being compromised with several transactions not made by me. I was still not entirely convinced when I returned the call as per answering machine message, but I was assured by the agent telling me that I could call the number On the back of my card to be put in contact with the same department (fraud/security). So, I just called the number in my card instead. If you're uncomfortable then contact the company in a manner you're accustomed to.

It is not a scam. It is a call from Scotiabank security when you are doing "suspicious" transfers and they call you to confirm that you did indeed make the transfer.

Not a spam caller it was Scotiabank and they were replying to an email I had sent them over the past weekend. I missed the call but they left a voicemail and replied to my email question. very helpful actually

Yup. Another idiotic call. In Toronto when I see 1416 or 1905 I'm sure it's a scam call.

Uh, those two area codes make up most of the GTA, so your statement makes no sense. There have to be way more legit numbers in any given area code than there are scam/spoofed numbers.

1. "MIN" or who ever this FAKE is it a big LIE:It is impossible to do "google " OR any other search search and get to this address.2. I received many calls and when I call back there is a very strange message that does not make any sense and no choice to leave a message. It is a FAKE for sure.

They called and offered my husband a better interest rate, but he won't do anything like that over the phone. The person requested some of his personal info that he should have right in front of him if he was indeed from Scotiabank. The next day, my husband inquired about the "special" interest rate and they told him there is no such thing being offered at this time. Definitely a scam!!!! Also, the guy didn't know how to take no for an answer. He had to be told 3 times, and very firmly that my husband was not interested.

I'm house sitting for a friend and got a call on my cell, immediately the land line rang...saw the 1-416 on my cell and as I don't know anyone in TO I didn't answer.....looked at the caller id on the landline and it was the exact same #...what were the chances of that happening ? I answered and he wanted to talk about my current Visa or Mastercard....so knew it was a telemarketer....told we weren't interested and hung up. He did not identify either himself or the company.

It's called my cell number two evenings in a row. Didn't pick up, no message. I don't have a scotiabank account, but I do have a Scene card, so it might've come through that, I guess if the person above is right about it being a sales call.
