Telephone scams are on the rise. I can't repeat that enough. Telephone scams are on the rise. They get your number FROM the do not call list. What a joke that has turned out to be. Never the less, report accordingly. It is illegal to call with out prior consent or affiliation. It is illegal to call without displaying appropriate caller Id. "Unknown" is unacceptable. Robo calls are illegal unless prior consent is given. Robo calls MUST have a return phone call number and MUST state the company who is calling. If these red flags are triggered then bingo these criminals are up to no good. One reason why people get dead calls or hung up on is because the caller is listening for an older voice in hopes that they are gullible or unsuspecting to be dooped.Report to DNC list and appropriate authorities. *57 to trace the calls.Telemarketing scams are on the rise. Report and warn.
I received a call from the above # around 1:15pm Sunday June 3/12. I can't believe I'd actually get a spam type call on Sunday let alone during the week which I feel isn't right, but expected. Called this # back a few mins. later to get a 25-30 second recording saying that they are a National Marketing Research Firm and this is "Not a Sales Call". Well I call it "bull-crap" regardless. Why call #'s in Canada and it's a "supposed" US company? Not sure if they called before, but lately I've been getting spammed quite a bit more that usual. How they get my(or anyone's #) I'd like to know. Do they and others(companies) have sheet and sheets of phone #'s? I hope our phone companies aren't selling and/or giving out our personal information?I been receiving calls about my credit card accounts and how this is 2nd and final notice if I don't sign up with them to lower my interest rate(I don't even have a CC to begin with wtf?) and the economic crisis and basically the women keeping repeating herself over and over(again saying it was my final notice) till my machine timed-her "fake voice" out. It had to have been over a 1 min at least before my machine time-out from my inbox being full. *eye-roll*. I also received a call at around 11pm a couple days ago, I had my phone off but heard the machine go off(a prolonged beep). I thought maybe it's an emergency and phone it back about 5-10 mins. later and got no answer after 6-7 rings. I've read a couple messages they've received late night calls. That # was a local BC number, I just don't get this as the name applies. Not sure what else to do and apologies if I made this longer than I would have liked. Thanks to all that take the time to read the messages. P.S. Seems at though the Do Not Call List does nothing or very little as it was intended for and are getting lists of the DNCL. Thank you for this blog as putting this # in Google and got these messages. Tyvm 800notes.com for a resource to let others other spamming/unsolicited calls. What a service. :-)
They came up on caller ID a few days ago and I missed call. Found out it is Wilkins Research. This company actually does have a good reputation. They are a local company here in Chattanooga and they do surveys and research. My wife was called down to the office a few years ago and paid $50 cash to sit on a 2 hour panel about cable TV. Turned out to be a pretty big gripe session about Comcast. The Comcast rep. turned out to be there listening and was slammed. Easiest $50 she ever made. Plus it was fun for everyone who got to yell at Comcast.
423-648-4908do these jerk offs really think that are enough people without caller ID??
if they're so reputable, why do they do their research on a ph no. with no bad baggage.gs
The phone number (423) 648-4908 is from Chattanooga, TN evidently (that's all it says on the Caller ID anyway). Anyway, whoever it is; they usually will call only once during the day or evening and then will leave no message at all - just the hang up sound. I have my home phone set not to ring at all and the answering machine picks up after six rings; leaving the light on the telephone blinking to let me know when someone has actually left a message. Ever since I signed up for the national Do-Not-Call registry (1-888-382-1222) I have gotten far less calls; however I still get them occasionally so leaving the 'ringer' OFF is simply far more convenient and really works for me. If it is a legitimate call I can always get back to them later on. And if it isn't they usually do not continue their call after 5-6 rings. I started using this "I'll get back to you later on" method when I found out that just picking up the phone and saying "Hello?" puts you on the 'telemarketers sucker list' and then you get hit with WAY more calls after that.
