See reply above. Keep a copy of the certified letter and tell them to take your number off their list and if you do owe money as they claim, tell them to send you a letter with the amount.Otherwise tell them to stop harrassing you as that is against the law in your state
I called them directly and ask them why were they harrasing me.They said they were looking for a Miguel Ruiz.I laughed and said there is no such person. She was nice and said she'd take me off the list.Easy as that.So call them and tell them what this was about so they'll stop bothering you.
I, too, am receiving calls from this number. It's a recording for my grandson (don't know why they have my number). The recording says to press #1 if this is ______, press #2 if more time is needed to get that person, press ? if this person does not live there (or something like that). I pressed the number saying he doesn't live here. That didn't help because the calls have increased. They start at 8:00AM and continue until 9:00pm. Sometimes the calls are just minutes apart. I answered another time and pressed a number (don't remember which one) and the recording said they were attempting to collect a debt and gave me all kinds of information. I thought that was against the law. I was not the person they were calling yet they gave personal information. Does the privacy act protect againts this?
They call occasionally here- I checked them out at BBB.org- they have several offices, and their best rating with the BBB is B- , the majority are rated F! our credit scores are very high- we don't owe any back debt, and don't answer the phone- we let the machine pick it up. By the way, they show up on caller ID as E R Solutions, medical collections, and anything else they can make a buck off of.
This number just called me AGAIN, for the 10th time. Every morning at the same time, 8AM. Today I finally answered me, it patched me thru to some Indian lady who spoke poor English asked for my social security number, when I refused to proceeded to tell me, that the information was to collect on a debt. That I owed Sprint something like 422 dollars. Funny part is I have never used Sprint in my life. When I said that she simply hung up. Seems very very odd to me.
i answered this number today b/c my phone was acting up and didn't who was calling. the lady on the other end actually had the decency to tell me what was going on. i told her my reason for being hestitant to tell her who i was. she agreed and said she understood. anyway, she was able to knock my bill from 190 to 124....if i hadn't forgotten them it would've only 25-50, but still that helped and it's not going on my credit as a bad mark....well completely, obviously i have a couple of month that are derogatory- but now it will say paid in full.so all in all, i'd answer the call before you go to collections.
one thing know your rights , you are not required by law to deal with a collection agency. only the people you owe the money too. talk to consumer protection in your state. in most case's you can send these companies a seece and desist order stating they are not to call and can only contact you by letter. in ct it is actually against the law for them to call you period.
