I got another call today. He sounded as if he's from India. I said that I know this is a scam and the number has been reported because of the frequency of the calls. He hung up.
6:15 am!! They called us at 6:15am - Asian or Indian voice says "hello" then the phone goes dead - ugh! I didn't even get the pleasure of chewing them out....frustrating!
Also received a phone call to my home saying that they are representing Microsoft and that my computer could crash.
I have had several calls in the past few days from this phone number. It has a posting number above the displayed phone number of V10241049100015. Suspecting this to be a telemarketing company calling, I did not answer their calls until this afternoon because I was getting annoyed with their repetitive calling! A man identified himself as "Sam" and that he was representing Microsoft in a matter with my computer. I quickly informed Sam that he is NOT to call my phone number anymore and that there is nothing wrong with my computer! I have had calls in the past from these types of SCAM organizations that will try to get personal information from you or tap into your computer systems. I have also logged complaints tied to their #'s previously with Microsoft and the local police. Please don't be fooled by these crafty thieves!! They are NOT representing Microsoft and please do NOT give them any of your personal information!! Tell them that you have recorded their phone number and will register a complaint with the local police and RCMP!! These types of call center thieves and scam artists MUST BE STOPPED!!
Good point about pushing our service providers to stop outsourcing their service providers!! This truly is a scam committing fraud!! Microsoft has billions in revenue. It is time for them to reinvest in their company security structures. If not, some other company is going to come along that makes the customer security and satisfaction of their North American clients, their number one priority; even if it costs the consumer a little more money! Then watch the herd run!! Privacy and security are quickly becoming the number one source of customer satisfaction to prevent fraud from these types of out of country scam artists. So lets narrow the search and ultimately eliminate the problem by keeping this type of service in our own country!! I hope you are paying attention Microsoft!!
I got a call from this number telling me that they have a record to show my computer has viruses...., and then I asked him 'do u know what computer i am using' he said 'Windows' and then i said 'sorry, you are wrong, you even don't know what computer I use, how come you tell me my computer has viruses?!'
I received a call from 425-668-9652. Caller ID shows WASHINGTON CALL. Man with heavy accent said he was calling about my computer. I asked him to remove my name from his list and not to call me again. We'll see.
The person at this number called my home phone number, which is on the "Do Not Call" list, and woke me up late Saturday evening. I am filing a complaint with the Seattle Police Dept. and with the National Do Not Call Registry, which the taxes that we pay support. I intend to have a lawyer in Seattle file a class action lawsuit against the individuals and companies responsible for harassing American citizens. Be sure to include contact information in your complaint notes so that you can be included in the lawsuit. I am sure that a jury of Americans will award us most of this [***]'s assets.
Yup, just got a call from this number ... answered but just sat the phone down on the desk and let THEM figure out what is going on! LOL They hung up pretty quick!!
I have been receiving calls from this number for the last several weeks. The caller has come up on this number as well as a 704 area code and it is traceable to a VOIP (I think the number has been spoofed as I looked it up and it should belong to a Charlotte, NC real estate office.) An Indian-sounding person, "Eddie", asks who is using our computer, says that it is throwing malicious viruses onto the net, and tells me to look at the "computer" icon on my desktop. He tells me the computer is throwing thousands and thousands of viruses, 58,000 just this morning! My response to him is, "You keep calling me. Your number is unidentifiable, you claim to be from Microsoft, your English is horrible and I can't understand you, how do I know that you are not a scammer and trying to get me to alter my computer files, which is a known scam. . .?" . . . and then fast Eddie hangs up. The English is poor and this person is in NO WAY able to communicate in a clear, professional manner. There is no way Microsoft Technical support would hire a jerk like this. I know a bunch of those guys in Charlotte and they are smart and articulate.(I ran ALL of my security software, including the FREE MS Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool September 2013, and there isn't anything wrong with my PC.Scum bags.
