Just received a call from 440-617-5620. Recording said there was no problem with my account but I I was eligible for a reduced interest rate on my Chase or Bank of America card. Press 1 to lower rate. I pressed 1 and a young man who did not speak english very clearly read a script, indicating I had no late payments and said my balance was $3500 (which is probably close) and ended with "Please verify your card expiration date". I had to ask several times for him to repeat himself because I couldn't understand him.I told him I was not going to give my expiration date over the phone because I didn't know who he was. He said "I just told you who I was" and that it was OK because he wasn't asking for my security code. I asked if there was a way I could handle this online and he said no and hung up. Very clever phishing method. Luckily I teach workshops on identity theft so I was just messing with him to see what he would say.
Got a call from this same number just now 4:47pm EST. 4/23 I'm glad I looked up the number to find all your comments. I didn't pick it up. No message was left.We have 2 phones one with a walmart no contract plan that has unlimited minutes but we also have a Verizon prepaid phone we take with us in case we need it somewhere we don't have reception. It IS rather annoying to have telemarketers/scammers call those phones and waste your minutes if you choose this option.
440 617 5620Called to day, a first, hoping it is the last.Did not pick up, daughter did pick up yesterday to get credit card info.SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got a call from this number but did not answer it. Did not leave a message. I don't know why they call my cell phone number when I have a land line and do not give out my cell number.
Unfortunately changing your phone number to avoid the card service scammers won't do one bit of good. The card service scammers use a robodialer, which just dials through a series of numbers, regardless of if they are on the do not call list, are non published or cellular. Don't forget these are druggie criminals, whose only aim is to fool us into giving them our credit card numbers so they can rip us off!
If you attempt to opt out, as suggested by the shills for the fraud, your number will be confirmed as "live" and added to a suckers list for repeated future calls, as well as sold to the operators of other frauds.
Late posting this one...Received on 09 July 2013 at 1644L/EST.Received a phone call on my CELL phone, answered it and heard this message: "This is Amanda with credit card services. Your credit card is eligible for a lower interest rate, and to stay on the line and Press 1 to speak to an operator who will help you lower your card interest rate..." Blah-blah-blah.I answered it because I was expecting a very important call. Now these lowlife scum know I have an operating C-ph....BTW, my iPhone Caller ID did show the origin as Ohio, USA.
