I just got another call from these people today. They know about a health issue I have and claim to be there to assist. They showed up as Your HealthPlan 443-430-7201 on my caller id.She asked me to confirm my birth date and home address before getting in to why she was calling, and claimed to be from Care First Blue Cross Blue Shield, never mentioned the name of the actual company.I told her that it was disturbing that someone knew my information and was calling me to talk about it.Nothing about this phone call felt normal to me, I don't care if they are there to help. It is an invasion of privacy!
Nobody called me but I've BCBS and they did send me a letter offering a similar service. My understanding is it's voluntary and I'd have to opt in if I want it. If BCBS ever begin calling me directly or through 3rd parties, I'd give them hell. In countries with national health care, this sort of service is used to reduced costs for the system (and not to deny health care because no one can be denied care) but in countries with *insured* health care like ours, whatever info insurance companies can glean from your disclosure *will* be used against you (if applicable) to deny future claims. If you choose to participate, you could be supplying the very info that will be used against you. Not only that, once you give out info, it's going to sit in some computer somewhere and who's to say it's not going to be sold or stolen sometime? It's your choice; I vote no.
You are way off base. Healthways / Carefirst is benefit to you through BCBS. Its purpose is to assist you in staying well, prevent illness, and assist with illness when it happens. Once you get an illness it is too late for prevention, time consuming, and expensive even with insurance. This service is a new type of way that insurance companies assist their clients to keep from being hit hard with both short term illnesses, and chronic lifetime illness. If you had LISTENED you would have found out that the company is there for YOUR benefit, not meant to be harrassing. Your are the one who loses here.
I have recieved many calls from "information center", don't know if it's the same people but now I have a letter from Healthways, envelope of BC/BS. It states "while you participate in our program...we'll keep your doctor informed of your health status". Insane! Worse, it says" participation is voluntary", but "if you do not wish to participate", apparently, you have to call them! What does that mean? I'm enrolled if I don't call? Also says I am to call if I "have been identified in error" How am I identified? What aspect of BC/BS is responsible for supplying names, Argus pharmacy?
Get a life! Yes they work as an agent for BC/BS.....for your health !They are not selling anything! If you don't want them to call just say so.Stop blowing your own horn !
Then why is it i get calls from them and I don't have BC/BS. If they are looking out for people's health, how come they don't speak when you pickup their calls? Just a thought.
