If you trust a health insurance company to have your best interests in mind, by all means answer this call.I believe they are trying to collect personal health info on me, I will never return this call, BLOCK!
Just so you know, this is "technically" a legit call. They are an outside company that do provide these services. If they get you to comply they then bill UHC for their services. They are totally unnecessary.
This is an unsolicited call from UHC - if you have ANY of their plans or their supplemental plans (you may not know them as UHC at that point), you will probably get this call. Just tell them that your number is a business phone and to remove your number from their list.
The woman who phoned might have been legit and from United Healthcare as she stated (fyi; insurance companies have all of their client's updated health records, and etc. they update their records from insurance claims they receive). BUT she could have been a scam artist using an app or going through a web site (app/web site; enables a scam artist to use legitimate business names and or person's names and their legit phone numbers. scam artists also record a person's voice to try to use in some scam by using a word change app) to try to obtain personal info from the person she was asking for.Best to not answer phone or if u answer by mistake just hang up.I copied and pasted this below from a web site :I heard a story this week about a lady in her 80’s who received a phone call from Medicare – well, the caller said he was from Medicare. The caller was very pleasant and said he needed to update this senior’s Medicare information. The conversation went on for a minute or so, and then the caller asked for the lady’s bank account information. The lady immediately knew this was a scam and told the caller, “I made be old, but I’m not out of it!”.
Just got a call and they left a message asking me to call back. It is very important that they talk with me. Tells me that they monitor my mother's emergency contact information since I am listed as her emergency contact. I do not have this coverage and never have had it. They picked up on this within a couple of months of my mother being in the hospital and them getting my contact information. We do not need their help or in home visit.
My husband and I really enjoy getting a home visit from UHC. We look upon this as a great service, not a negative. Great to have a second opinion and more time answering our questions with nurse practioner than the usual 15 minutes in doctor's office. The other plus was that we receive a $30 gift card to use at Walmart every year the nurse makes a visit.
Why is everybody carping about? I have not been bugged at all. I appreciate that they offer a free examination and discussion of my health. Some people could use a gentle nudge to address health issues. It take about a minute or two to take the call and tell them no thanks if you like-big deal. And everybody wants to blame the Government for everything; those calls are from a free market company that called trying to keep you from switching to another provider. The Government is trying to make sure we get good health care delivery which is not easy in a profit oriented industry. What a bunch of paranoid cranks!
Thinking that this was a requirement of my health insurance company,I've taken advantage of this service for at least three years. As someone previously mentioned, they sent a very professional nurse who took vitals, answered questions and before leaving presented me with a small gift as well as a small but welcome Walmart gift card.
Thanks for this positive response. Perhaps it will encourage some folks to take advantage of this service that is not at all suspicious and can reap only helpful results. So many of our personal doctors are busy and our appointments are far between. Using House Calls may alert someone to a possible problem that can then be addressed by their primary physician.
