I received a call from this number today. I was making phone calls for my employer and they beaped in but by the time I answered they wasn't there. When I called them back, I was on hold for several minutes and had to call back three times before I talked to someone. I am on a Federal and State DO NOT CALL list. When the answered, I respond Federal Trade Commission Chicago and the call is being recorded. They hung up immediately. Another thing that you can use is the FBI and they will hang up as well. This is a notorious scam.
read some of the above scripts.... SOME people are at a BUSINESS and are REQUIRED TO CALL BACK. You think a business knows EVERY number that calls them?
That's all very nice for many people--including you, obviously--but some of us get calls from people we don't know as a matter of business, and on a regular basis. Until quite recently, I ran book and author features for a major ISP. I constantly get calls from publicists who I don't already know. If I ignore every call from someone I don't know, I miss a useful contact. It's not a matter of "duh," much as you might imagine otherwise.
Probably another scam.I blocked it,but I am sure they will just call back from another number.I am so done with these calls.
Joodles. I just did the same thing. Will let this forum know what future calls I get from them. They also gave me a website to go to for more info., but it's not set up to get info. yet. votethewill.com
Someone's comment earlier was right on target... if you don't recognize the number, or the caller ID, don't answer the phone. Eventually the robo caller will get the message and stop calling. I did something a year go that has proven quite effective for me. I set my answering machine to come on with my recorded message after just two rights. My messages begins "You have reached (phone number). If you are a telemarketer hang up now." 99% they will hang up instantly, and 95% will stop dialing my number after three unsuccessful attempts. I log every phone number that calls me in my computer and research all that I can. I have managed to stop all the major offenders. May not work for you, but it has for me.
At first I was willing to answer a few survey questions about the government.... then they wanted my credit card number for a donation for $20.00. What they really wanted was my credited card number. I am smarter than that! I told him to send me something in the regular mail and I would consider it then. Then I realized its some kind of prerecorded person, not a real person I was talking to. My advice if they called you is... NEVER GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO TO ANYONE THAT HAS CALLED YOU!!!!! And report the call!!! Scammers are everywhere. I figure they are all scammers and ask to call them back, then check them out online. Many times they hang up when you ask to call them back.
