I do not answer numbers I don't recognize. Here is what is working for me. I have recorded the following message that all unrecognized callers hear... "You have reached the XXX family voice mail. If you are calling with a scam, selling something or asking for a donation, hang up now... we will not respond. If you are calling for a legitimate reason, leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Thanks"The number of "unwanted" calls has dropped by at least half because they NEVER get through. Try it. It does take a little while but you will notice fewer and fewer of these repeat calls.
Thanks, you all said it eloquently. I do volunteer work on an emergent basis, and lots of people keep their previous out-of-town numbers, and need me quickly. But this one is a dead giveaway, with the name "informed electorate" and a long-distance recognizable number. They called yesterday, too, have been calling for several months, and I ignored all because of the CID. I did call their CID number today using my anonymous cell phone and they offer three options, but none to be removed... That wouldn't work anyway, they ignore that, too. Even then, it would only read the cell number I had called from, which is not the number they bother me on. This caller is "small potatoes," in my humble opinion, totally not dangerous compared to some of the others, even though they are rather persistent. There's a place in heaven for whoever invented CID!.... And Janet: I wish you the very best outcome. Stay strong!
This number / organization is now engaging in the "yes" phone scam in the guise of doing a survey. "...please answer with simply a Yes or a No: Did you yourself vote in the last Presidential election?" DO NOT EVEN PICK THIS UP!
Tell your friends this isn't 1951 any more, when each home had just one cord phone, when calls were rare and usually important. Not any more. Your advice was perfect.
Recd a call from this number from "Scott" saying he needed to discuss something in regards to a credit union.
When a doctor's nurse calls, they don't leave messages because of HIPAA, but they will usually leave the request for a callback. So real doctor calls aren't a problem and you shouldn't worry about missing one of their calls. And by the way, do you have email? Many docs, and now hospitals, offer this option, which solves everything. Ask about it.
