The call I keep getting is 480-505-8879, but it's so similar to the # you got, I figured I'd post about it ... the 8879 number is definitely from GoDaddy - the website company. I found from another website like this one (whocalledus.us) that these are just calls from GoDaddy's customer service dept. trying to sell you additional services. I have services from them, but it's annoying that they're trying to sell me something else. On the other site I mentioned GoDaddy employees have actually responded to people's posts, saying that we should all appreciate the fact that they are giving us this "courtesy call". It's not courteous when they call early in the am on the weekend, or late in the day on weekdays. his time they didn't leave a message, which is why I was looking up the number, but other times they say this really dumb scripted message with a laid-back attitude to try to make it sound like it's not a script.
I received a call from this number but ignored it. Read through these threads then waited to see if I received another call. I had received emails from GoDaddy that my credit card had expired and was curious if the caller would know that information. I just got off the phone with a call from this number and it was a courtesy call to let me know that renewals for some domains were in jeopardy as they would be expiring soon. The person kindly suggested I should log into GoDaddy to update my billing information then wished me a nice day!
Play it safe. If your cold called hang up and call directly! It's too easy to SPOOF caller id and IMPERSONATE any company these days.
For every person that says this was not Godaddy calling from this number, then the only thing I can say is that maybe the call you got was spoofed, but the call I got from this number was in fact GoDaddy. I had over 80 domains on Godaddy. I had a Shared Hosting account and when AT&T blocked one of Godaddy's servers for someone that was spamming on the same Server, a few of my domains got caught in the web. It took 8 freaking days for the issue to be straightened out. That's 8 days with several of my eCommerce websites, not doing any business. I then started transferring domains away from GoDaddy, thus the reason for the call today. I did not answer the call because i don't answer unidentified calls, but when I called the GoDaddy number listed on their website, (A totally different number than what I was called from) after giving them my security pin, they confirmed that it was them calling to see if it was anything they could do for me to keep me as a customer. Nothing they can do at this point. i will soon be done with them! I have 19 domains left at GoDaddy and they are on their way to another hosting provider shortly like the rest.
Actually they will still call you. I am a customer and have asked that they no longer call me
