I got this call from 480-505-8859, it was from godaddy.com offering an "orientation". I told them to take me off any calling list. I wouldn't have registered my domain name with godaddy.com if I had known they were going to be making telemarketing calls with my personal information from using their domain registration service.
Go Daddy just called me from this number. Caller ID says "Tempe". Regarding activity on my account and asking for the owner. You need to give them a pin number (which I don't have) or the last 4 digits of the credit card on file (the only card they ever had on file was deactivated a long time ago and I have no idea what number). So he would not tell me why he was calling. Probably because we didn't renew our email. It went from $20 a year to $60. That is a HUGE increase. And, of course, they send you no notice of the price change to give any time to find someone else. This happened with our domain and we ended up paying them a HUGE amount to get it back from them. Going now to find someone else........
A few weeks ago, I received a call from this unknown number. The guy sounded sketchy. Claimed to be from GoDaddy (I am a customer) but could not tell me why he was calling me unless I gave him my pin number first. Uh, no. I don't know you and you can't even tell me why you're calling me so I'm not giving you any info.I knew my account with GoDaddy was up for renewal soon. I told him I expected to get an email alerting me of the upcoming renewal date, at which time I would renew, and didn't expect to be getting phone calls, since email is my preferred method of communication with their company.I did eventually receive an email saying the renewal date was either sometime in June or July 7th. They didn't seem too sure. The message was something like: "Urgent!!!!! Renew Today! Your contract expires at midnight and you will lose your website FOREVER!!!!!" with a little footnote saying the renewal date was actually about 10 days away on 7/7. I don't like those kind of sales tactics. I didn't save this number in my phone as GoDaddy because the strange way the caller acted the first time didn't convince me that it was legit. So when the phone rang today, I didn't recognize the number and ignored it.I've had my website with them since about 2007. I'm not a problem customer and they should be contacting me through my preferred method instead of bothering me with these vague, suspicious sounding, unprofessional, annoying, and unnecessary phone calls. I'm thinking of switching to Network Solutions or some other hosting service.
The gentleman called to give me an 'orientation'.He wanted to know why I'd come to him. I answered. Then I asked him if they would be calling any other time, or was this a one-time-only.He told me once only- unless I had a problem and needed them.(If they call again, they're risking loss of a new customer. I don't appreciate businesses who tell lies.)I then asked why the caller ID said 'Arizona'.. the guy stumbled about saying various things that equated 'I dunno'.I informed him that I generally don't answer the phone for anyone not listed by name or company name, so I probably wouldn't answer. (I answered this time because I looked it up here while it rang and saw godaddy)He said 'no problem we'll leave a message'He didn't know what to say when I told him we had no answering service. :)
