It's a market research firm. They do not have to appeal to the nat'l do not call list since they are not soliciting for sales. They get your number because you sign up for something and agree to terms of agreement for something you signed up for. As a former market researcher (thankful it's not what I do anymore) the caller is only doing their job. Be polite and direct if you don't want to participate. This is in compliance to National laws for do not call list, etc...
That's all well and good, but the guy who called my house was a complete jerk from the start. Seriously, if you start off the conversation telling me where you're calling from and asking me to take a survey, I'll say "no thanks" politely. If you refuse to tell me where you're calling from despite my asking repeatedly, and then tell me what a hurry you're in (I guess so I'll stop asking where you're calling from) after you called me at my home, then I'm going to be a jerk too. Fortunately I can block numbers through my phone service.
calls 2-3 times a day for two weeks now. Having caller ID and not knowing who it is, I don't answer.Very annoying.
Bernett research and doing research in my area. I told them I don't do surveys. Then they called again and I did not answer the phone this time.
called me asking if I wanted to take a survey? He sounded very unsure of why/what he was asking and I heard children screaming in the background. Very scammish if you ask me. I told him not to call me again.
No telemarketing company calls you specifically. They have computers that constantly dial every possible telephone number. If anyone answers, the computer hands off the call to the next available operator in the boiler room. The computer displays to that operator your telephone number, your name, and your address. Just because you pay to be unlisted (which is a waste of money) does not mean the telephone company won't sell your information to telemarketers. Unlisted numbers just aren't placed in the telephone books. A lot of telemarketers these days are located in India and they could not care less if you are on any DO NOT CALL list. The U.S. government can't touch them. They have computers and systems that can route their call from India through a U.S. telephone number, so it looks like a U.S. person is calling you. If you don't like this (and who does?), complain to your Congressional representatives.
I received a call from this group around midnight. Let it ring and no voice message was left. Definitely seems to have ignorant people making the cslkd. Don't even know that time zones exist.
Caller asked to be transferred to mail department. I asked what company he's calling from and what this call was regarding. He said he's calling US Postal and wanted feedback on the stamps we were using.
