i received a call fromm 1-777-888-5555 today 28 march 2009 at 11:27 am,from1-555-555-5555 at 10:20 am, 9:40 am and -.111-111-1111 at 8:33 am and 1-555-555-5555 at 7:58 am. how can we find out who can dial from a number like that, and from where are the area code 111,555 and 888. please send a comment
they called and told me they are calling to talk to their grandmother. A guy...weird and hung up.
Male with a foreign accent. Calling about Dell computer. Told him I did not have a Dell computer, and he said you don't have a Dell computer, and hung up.
I noticed this too with a threating and incredibly vague legal-ish call that ran something to the effect of "this message will be a intentional second attempt to aWoid an appearance before a magistrate judge or grand jury for a federal criminal offense. the number to reach us will be 214-617-9665..." the call came from 217 617-9668, a 'phone purchased at the local Walmart supercenter in Red Oak, Tx.The Pronounciation of "Avoid" was spoken "Awoid", as with many indo-Pakistani speakers pronounce. And NO, real courts, federal state or local, do not leave such messages, they send notices certified mail. SOooo...chances are these are people stateside who can go to an ATM or bank or store w/ your freely given info.We REALLY need to get out the word in our communities (family, co-workers, neighbors) about these scams, so that people (ESPECIALLY out vulnerable seniors) are not victimized. We also need better tools for reporting and tracking these corks, but that is another matter.
