Come on guys, 555-555-5555? That is a fake number. There is no US area code that starts with 555. Thats why you always hear this number in the movies. It is a bogus number faked by the caller. That means dont answer it or call it back! Probably some out of US caller trying to rip you off! Dont fall for it!
I have been receiving similar calls and directory assistance directed me to 800-348-8727, which handles annoyance calls. Apparently they handle threats, fraud, etc.
Call came in and I answered with "If this is a sales call or political call, we are on the Do Not Call List, please remove our name and number. Thank you." The line was still open and no one spoke, so I hung up.
Received a call 2/9/11. Said problem with a debit or credit card, told me to push 1. I hung up.
Anyone can use that number. It's done with a SPOOF CARD..They can put in any number they chose to use and this is a common number..Go to www.google.com or www.bing.com and type in spoof card. They pay a fee. It can be is little as $10.00 and up. There are other companies also that can go directly to your voicemail. Hope this helps in some small way.
555-555-5555 called and left me a prerecorded robo-message, of some atorney supporting Gerry Chico in the upcoming Chicago mayorial race.
Got a call from this number saying my Sun Trust Bank account has been locked. I don't have a Sun Trust Bank account. Message said to press "1" in order to unlock the account. I just hung up.
Our's came to our son's cell phone. It was an automated message from Hoosier Hills Credit Union stating we had reached our max daily limit. Since we have no account with this bank it was obvious it want for us. I would like these calls to stop especially since these are going to my son's phone who is only 14.
