It's a lovely message about medical alerts for seniors, and I was referred by a friend or family member. Yay me! Too bad I'm not a senior. When I pressed 1to connect and said 'I'm only 33, not a senior, plea.......' They hung up. Blocking yet another number. Pretty sure my block list is longer than my contact list at this point.
I am lucky enough to get calls from "Rachel" all of the time. The one today from 603-249-8767 said they were from Life Alert Systems. You're right. I politely asked them to take me off of the list and she hung up on me.
Regrettably they won't. As long as the profit is greater than the diminishing returns, it will continue. The govnt's financial and physical resources available and the vast number of hidden worldwide criminals looks very bleek indeed. The most logical defense is to forget about government leading the way but defending ourselves with knowledge and available tools (call blockers) and just get after it. Make the profit not worth the effort.Just calling it as I see it......other opinions may vary.
as a variation on this theme: if I have the time and need to take out some frustrations, I have a fake name, CC number (complete with security code), DOB, etc. written down just for Rachel's buds. I will string them along until they figure it out (one bozo tried the fake number 4 times before he caught on) and then tell them that I really just wanted to return the favor and waste some of their time. Juvenal I know, but it breaks up the day.
Yup, gotta be the government selling our numbers to the scammers. That's why the govt set up the DNC in the first place right. Couldn't be that the DNC doesn't have the budget to go after all nuisance calls or that they can only prosecute them if they can find them. Look our your window, bet the black helicopters are coming to scoop up a tea bagger.
