We are getting pretty fed up with calls from this number and when we try to call back we find out it is no longer in service.
This number phones my buisness everyday, when i asked the girl Michelle what company this was she told me im your credit card company with VISA or MASTERCARD, I started to tell her to take the number off her call list but she hung up on me.
The card service scammers use all spoofed (false) numbers to hide their true identities and locations in order to avoid prosecution.
Bought a new phone so I can block numbers, so every time they call I add them to the blocked list, new number = new block. I can block number forever.
Call just came in โ Display is โUnknown Nameโ. Prerecorded message โ โUrgent message about your cardholder accountโฆ..reduce your interest rate before the next billing cycleโฆurgentโฆPress 1โ Of course no bank, credit card company, business name or caller name is mentioned. Real companies do not operate this way! I hung up.This is the old 'Cardholder Services; reduce your interest rate" scam. Check the website posting about 'Rachel from CardholderServices'. This is a SCAM to get your identity and credit card data from you - they use it to make Fake IDs and get credit cards; which destroys your credit rating before you catch on.The number call from is spoofed, they use a robo-dialer and a VoIP line, not a real phone. If you push ANY buttons, it tells them your number is 'live' and then they use and sell your number to other organized crime scammers. JUST HANG UP. The Do Not Call Registry works for legit companies; criminals don't care.See the RCMP "Top Ten Scams' list. email to their Anti-fraud unit at info@antifraud.ca. You can also email your elected federal official, telling them you want them to support the Anti-fraud unit and new proposed changes recommended by the Federal Privacy Commissioner of Canada. It takes time and international cooperation to gather evidence so they can prosecute and shut these people down. Support their efforts by reporting, and keep on posting here folks!
They're hitting me hard today... This is my third scam call in only a couple of hours. I never answer long distance calls I don't know. I come here first to see if they're legitimate.. (This 800notes is a great resource)..They're coming up with new spoofed numbers as fast as I can put 'em in my call block list.
Excellent post about the card services scammers! These disgusting, mainly drug-addicted creatures, who run most of their scamming operations from down here in the U.S., target the elderly, as many in this group do not have caller id to alert them to the nature of the call before they answer, and internet service to stay abreast of current scams. I would add to your post the importance of alerting others, especially the elderly, of this and other scams.
