Tried the same thing........

Got one of these calls today. Sounded like an Indian or Pakistani person claiming only to be "updating their information" about me and my business. After doing so they proceed to ask me if I want to list my business for a fee with their service. This is telemarketing in the guise of innocent data collection (which is an invasion of privacy as well!) They are just getting information out of the white or yellow pages, claiming that they're "updating" what their files have on me, and really have the agenda to sell me some listing service they lead me to believe I already have, but are offering an upgrade.

I just received a call from this number. She identified the company she was with, but unfortunately her accent was so heavy I didn't understand the name. She went on to say that representatives would be in the area doing duct cleaning. As soon as she said that, I cut her off saying "I am on the do not call list". She very quickly hung up. Second time I have had a call from this number, first time I answered.

Caller said "Good evening" and quickly moved into Chinese or some other Asian language.

The Number 1-613-333-4567 is a computer generated number that tricks caller ID, Their is NO such NUMBER. If you call your phone company they will explain it to you. That is all so why the Do Not Call List can do anything about it, cause there is No way to trace the number. I only post this as a help to you to understand. Just never answer a call you don't know who it is.

Called this morning, but no one was on the line

Just received a call from said number. Sounded like some little kid calling, lots of noise in the background typical of a call-centre, who ask for me by name! Once I acknowledged the little girl went into a sales pitch "RELIENT CARPET CLEANERS" was going to be in my area next and they had a special...blah blah blah. Told them don't call me again and to take my number off of their lists. The little girl said "No problem".

Unknown # calling me a few times a day and I don't answer because I don't recognize the #. I did call it back and it is an invalid #.

This number has called me 4 times since Thursday - March 24, 2011. Thursday afternoon around 5 pm, then Friday and Saturday mornings at 9am, then Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm. Currently, it is Monday - March 28, 2011 and I have not had another call.BEWARE!!! I answered the call on Saturday monrning at about 9am. They indicated that they were with VISA and that they were going to send me a $100 gift card for my VISA customer loyalty and they only needed to confirm my addess. Thankfully I just moved a few months back, and even though they had my previous address - I told him that was no longer my address and asked him what company he was with... he hung up on me IMMEDIATELY.Please, everyone, be CAREFUL, this is a scam! I would hate for anyone to become a victim of identity theft!!!
