What you said was so meaningful and pertinent. How constructive....it just took my breath away. We really needed that.....................................you think?
Actually, when the DNC is published, it only applies to telemarketers physically located in the U.S. When you put your name on it, you basically validate your phone number. In order for the DNC to be useful, it had to be public. Every company that makes money by telemarketing has the DNC so they know they can't call those numbersMake sense so far? However, if the company has a non-US office, they can legally call from anywhere outside the U.S. The DNC law doesn't apply outside our borders.So. You have a business that makes money from telemarketing. You have a huge list of validated phone numbers and you have an office that can legally telemarket those numbers. You have technology that can route a call from outside the country through a U.S. Exchange that makes it seem like it is coming from Boston. What do you do?It's not a conspiracy. It's just business.
We get two calls DAILY from this number. (so far today at 9:14 & 11:49 AM. They will probably try again this afternoon). I never answer so haven't any idea who the call is from. It is a Boston area number with "Massachusetts" as the caller.
Got a call from this number (though it's very likely a spoofed one) on our business phone today at 1046 hours. An idiot-message cheerfully told me I had won a "free" cruise to (some exotic place) and that the cruise will be mine if I just participate in a short survey. Ooh! I'm sooo lucky! I've won a "free" cruise! I'll be the envy of all my friends and neighbors! Undoubtedly, my free cruise would require a credit card to pay for the taxes and other fees not covered under the "free" part. Apparently these anal-sphincters criminals think everyone is as stupid as them.
When will the tele companys check who they are selling the numbers too and not just worry about the money they recieve
Most certain a scam. They didn't try the "you recently stayed at a hotel" line with me. They claimed I had won a "free" cruise if I participate in a short survey. Yeah, right. The only thing you "win" from these criminals is a lighter wallet and the moniker of "sucker" if you fall for their scam. I don't even interact with scam callers any more because it only encourages them to call again and again. Not that anything seems to discourage them. Even swearing at them and telling them you KNOW they're scam artists doesn't deter them. They apparently have the IQ of a rock. No, strike that. That's insulting to rocks.
