I also received a phone call from this number while I am in the midst of dealing with a serious medical issue for which I am dealing with Boston Doctors and medical centers with 617 area code numbers, so I thought it was a doctor's office. When I called it back I got Verizon's recording that this number is no longer in service.
Our third or fourth call from them - at least - today. Had them blocked until my call blocker got zapped by a thunderstorm two days ago! Now have to start over - buy a new one and program each spam number as it comes in.CRAP!BTW, its the tired old "Free Cruise" or "Free Vacation" CREDIT CARD PHISHING SCAM. Didn't bite!
I answered the call only because my mom is in the hospital and I don't know if it might be a doctor.I got a man (real sounding voice) saying he was calling from the "customer service depart and could I hear him" When I started asking where he was calling from, I was interrupted by the voice saying "Great" at that point, I realized the voice was mechanical and I hung up.
I get a recording calling me; some guy named "Tim from the customer service department", but from what company? They never say. It's a somewhat intelligent recording chain that changes voice recording tracks upon recognizing certain verbal commands. Basically it tries to get you to agree to receive more phone calls and follow up from some telemarketing companies. My phone number is on a DO-NOT-CALL list, and I never filled out any forms recently requesting any information from anyone. I am a salesman at a car dealership and my thoughts are that someone procured my cell phone number and is submitting my telephone number to these entities, however, I did not initiate any requests for information using my cell phone.
* Calls, but leaves no message.* The fact that there are recent 25 pages here at 800notes is evidence itself that this is a problem number.
Stated I had just won a free trip -- air, lodging, etc., then asked for a charge card number, since all hotels require one when checking in. Folks, this is not free. Just hang up. This company keeps calling every day. I am on the DNC list also.
The biggest scam going is registering your phone number on the national do not call list !! THEY SELL YOUR INFORMATION!!! I subscribed to this thing called "Privacy Star" It blocks the number and my phone wont even ring.. Give it a try it works for me. If not them there are other ones too.. Sick of these scumbags!! it's worth 20 bucks a year..
