All it takes is one person who sells the DNC list. Then it gets copied and copies. Resold and resold.
Called my cell phone at 11:40 am. Caller ID said Boston, MA. I did not answer. Other websites listed this number as spam so I blocked the number and I am commenting on a few of these types of sites to let others know as well. I really appreciate it when I find that people took the time to do that just to help others out.
Just because you got a recording indicating that the number is no longer in service, does not mean that that is the case. It could be that the number goes directly to voice mail, which, instead of allowing a message, simply plays a phony no-service message. Regardless, you should NEVER call back a suspect call, because your caller ID is now on their system, so they know you are a "live" number, and, thus, can be called over and over and over again!
Same intro thing happened to me - can you hear me - I just hung up after they said I had visited their resort recently. Blocked number.
