Yet another trap by a criminal. If you call that number, they'll have your ear and try to rope you in. Never call a number you are not sure is legit.

But some posters here insist they ARE Verizon. Who do you trust? Unless you recognize their voice, you can't really tell, so I guess the best you can do is to find the number for Verizon that is on the printed material you got when you first opened up your account and call THAT number to see if you really DO owe money.

I just spoke with Verizon's Fraud Department, and found out that Verizon customers have the option of having a 'Block' put on certain phone numbers such as 617-830-4490 (Verizon knows this is a spoofed phone number) for LAND LINES ... Their phone number is 1-800-309-3338. You can also report any of these calls to Verizon's Unlawful Call Center (which I would strongly recommend you do). That phone number is 1-800-518-5507 ....

I received multiple calls from various numbers regarding collections from Verizon. If you were lucky enough to get a voice message with the Verizon phone number they were referencing, you can call their finance department at 800-754-0961. I was able to get through to a person after entering the VZ number, hitting # because I didn't know the PIN for that account (as it isn't mine, these calls have been in error) and then a menu will let you speak to a person by pressing 0. This person was able to remove my number as a contact point for the account and said after 24 hours the calls should stop.

I agree - if it is Verizon then leave a message on my voicemail hang up call are harassment as far as I'm concerned. Verizon is even charging me for a suspended stolen phone !! Ready to leave them too
