The caller from this number 623-492-6031 woke me three times now. They said they were American Express and had my number as a contact for a Maria Elena Uma. I said I had knew of no such person. They said they would remove my number from their list. There is another number listed in the caller ID rather than an actual name. It is 602+537-9012. If this continues, I will report them to the Justice Department of the State of Wisconsin.

I don't have an AMEX card and I'm getting called. I don't ever answer. Should I?

On 10/30/09 I rec'd a call from 623-492-6031 and requested my AMX information; I don't have an account so first I looked on this website and saw it was a fraud. I proceeded to call AMX but they let me know it WAS indeed, an AMX number. They explained that if your phone number had matched an AMX customer who they needed to collect on in the past 3 or so years, it may still be in the system. Since my number is about 3 years old it made sense. But yes - per AMX this IS a legitimate number.

I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS CALLS WITH HANG-UPS. WILL MAKE A COMPLAINT TO LOCAL POLICE DEPT.

called my cell and then hung up...my number isn't even listed and is on the do not call list...

ha HA... i was gone for the week... week i got home i had 37 messages from this number... well just the sound of them hanging up... lol... i closed my amex account months ago...

Its a definite scam trying to get information from you. They are even leaving messages on this site saying this number is legit. Location of number is arizona. Woman sounded south african. Never ever give any information out on the phone and hang up. Then call your card customer service # and report them.

AMEX fraud and payment center. Valid number.

i got a call from this, then a VM was left saying to call 800-592-1160. this is very close to the number on the back of my Amex, but not the same.i called the number and it was a very professional sounding system prompting for my amex account #. i prompted ot get a representative, she asked for my account #, i refused citing that they called me first, i wouldn't verify by account number. she said "sir, you called ME" .. kind of unprofessional, but i think there's an 80% chance it really was american express. she said to hang up and call the number on the back of my card then. i called the regular #, but they didn't see any reasons i needed to be contacted or vice versa...

Amex will call you & ask you to provide personal info. It is the security team that is calling to make sure you are a valid person or to vfy you have the ability to pay your bill per the cardmember agreement. They will also ask you to fax them 2 yrs of fin info including your tax returns, copy of the your d/l ect. They will also canc your account as collection if you did not provide them the documents they are requesting..
