Someone from the 623-492-6031 number has called my work and home phones at least 20 times, early morning, late evening, and left no messages. Ultimately I answered one of these calls and discovered it pertained to an AmEx account that was closed and all issues resolved before the calls started. It was an unpleasant call, to say the least, and they were dead wrong about my owing any money to AmEx. My phone shows the caller ID as 602-537-9012.

If they are looking for an amex card #, they won't find one at my house. No reason to call here.

Called from 623-492-6031 to my cell phone Sunday at 10:10 AM. They hung up. AMEX was already notified in writing about pending bankruptcy and also fair debt practices act.

Dude, good luck! It's probably been stolen 10x over again...They were verifying as much as they could while they had you on the phone. THAT is how IDs are stolen.

I hate to break it to everyone who claims that this is a legit number, but I'm afraid you got scammed. I mean, think about it - how could your experience be legit when half the people who have been getting these calls don't even have Amex accounts? No way my number matches an Amex customer who had issues within the last 3 years - I've had this number for nearly 10 years. No Amex account. And thus, no bills, outstanding payments, or suspicious charges. I get tons of calls all the time from non-profits that I've contributed to from unknown numbers, so I always check here before answering. Good thing I did. You'd think these crooks would use a more commonly used card, like Visa or something, for their scam.

Have any of you ever read your posts? If they ask you for information, it's a scam. If they already have your information, it's a scam. If they speak English, it's a scam. This is American Express collections calling about a past due account. They make mistakes, and might have somehow associated my Centurion card with your phone number; they can correct it. But it's really them - think through it.

it's a legitimate number. AMEX gave me this number, its their "verification" department. Their wait time is freaking long, though

Came up Unknown, the number in the voice-mail was 800-555-4318 said she was from Serve or Surf from America Express to verify information from an application they received for me ( I would never apply as I know my credit is terrible and I would never be accepted). I suspect its a tellamarketer or something but I think they called not only my cell phone but my google voice line. The timing of the 2 calls was with in minutes of each other. I have not given my google voice number as a primary number in at least 3 years so it would not be on an application for me either.

Called Amex just got a call from this number and Amex said it was NOT theirs. They checked myInfo and said they did NOT call me.

This number has called our office asking for the person who handles our merchant services account. Instead of a name, a different phone number (6025379012) shows up on caller ID. This IS AMEX calling on behalf of another customer of theirs (they are not calling us about OUR Amex). This other customer paid my company using their Amex card. It was a large bill they were paying and they did it by phone so we did not have a signature. THAT is why they are calling.Although why the caller ID doesn't SAY AMEX is beyond me.
