called and hung up

Here's on for you!! I was NOT past due and my payment historay has been excellent. I kept receiving this call form a 623 area code. Apparently, I had reached a ceiling on a card with no limit. I was not behind in payments and no payment was due. They actually called 3 hours apart from each other. Additonally, they claimed they had notes from the previous caller. What burned me up was that they claimed this was reminder that any further charges would be declined until the minimum charge was made.I lost it on the 3 rd call in the same day and threated to file a compalint if the harrassment did not cease. There have been no calls and I made my payment on time.

You are one of them making these phone calls.I got one today and talked to the person. The call was meant for my wife and I talked saying I am her, she kept talking...I cross checked with many questions and none of them were correct but these guys are very good. whereever they are getting our personal information from. they seem to have all of our phone numbers which is very rare that even a legit company like american express would have. but they do. they are calling from various phone numbers, one of them is this. I spotted this right away as fake call. good luck to u all.

Got a call from this number because they were suspicious that I had not activated a new card. They deactivated the card and gave me the legitimate number for AmEx card replacement to get a new one. I immediately called card replacement and they showed the deactivation, so I feel that it was legitimate. The called identified herself as being from American Express Identity Protection in Phoenix, which a previous poster traced this number to.

Received the automated call from 623-492-6031 and called back the number listed, 888-819-2135. Entered my amex # and waited for an operator. My account had become past due, and I was able to work out a payment plan and it is now showing on my online amex account information. This is a legitimate department of amex calling. Unlike the deplorable treatment I received from Chase bank, I was extremely happy that amex was willing to work with me!

Received call today on a Sunday. Said we owed a back bill that needed to be payed right away and wanted to know if they could take the payment directly out of our checking account. We have never used American Express. We told the man to send us a bill in the mail if we owed. That we always pay our bills and they we would see about it. Got a call every day for 10 days. They wanted my Social Security #. Don't ever give it out. These guys are a scam !!

Thanks for this valuable resource. These guys are just crooks. I don't have an Amex card & they couldn't "pull my file" via my telephone number. WHen I exposed the guy he quickly apologized and hung up.Please elect McCain so we can bring back the firing squad for these guys!!
