They called saying they are US bank fraud department.
This is not a scam. It was a legit call from my bank to discuss a fraud issue I originally called them about. It was settled at the time I called them but this caller was checking in to see if I was satisfied with the end result.
Number is legit. Its US Bank Fraud dept. I didn't call it back, but instead called the number on the credit card and they said yes, they did call to verify something.
A lot of credit card companies use US Bank. I have a mastercard and they use US Bank. My mastercard was used by someone to the tune of $9500. Call the number on the back of your credit card. It is a legit number for US Bank fraud.
Left message on home phone said there was a problem with my credit card. I called back. They said the number is not in service for "Members services." Huh?
***UPDATE*** This was legit call. They use a dial out number that does not receive incoming calls. In message, they leave phone number to call back. I called the number on the back of my card. It was a fraud alert since I had just done a large purchase and they wanted to verify it. I'm glad they do that!
My card had a fraudulent charge days ago and I requested a call back. When this number came in today, I couldn't answer in time or it hung up just as I answered. So I called into the main number again, and I was told than an attempt was made to reach me. In my case, this appear to be legit. But you should be very careful with these things. Best to call them back at the main number.
I had a charge from US Bank declined at an Apple store the day prior to receiving a call from this number. The man identified himself as James in the Fraud Department and asked if I wanted an override of the computer security that declined the charge. I said no, just leave the card alone with all the security on it. (I had used another card to buy the stuff). I then called the number on the back of my card, and they not only had a record that he had called to over the override, but also they confirmed the phone number was legitimate.
Got a call from this number after applying for a US Bank credit card. I didn't answer, and they left a voicemail telling me to call another number and gave me a reference number. I did that and they said they needed to verify my application, because there's a fraud alert on my credit report (I requested it due to the Equifax breach). They just asked my reference number and my name, and made sure I did apply for the card. So this number is legit.
