Received call with 'automation' saying my BECU bank account had been locked, press 1 to unlock it. I listened, waiting for it to repeat to make sure I heard correctly, then it hung up. Called BECU and they have many reports of this phishing scam to get you to input your account number and information. Terrible.
701-509-9807 was an automated voice for United Bank; as I have no affiliation to a "United Bank" I hung up since I didn't need to hear anymore than that. To "Generous" who wrote on 2/14 - Washington Mutual, was a bank based in WA state that went belly-up (bankrupt) in 2009 and does not exist anymore.
Always Answer These Types Of Calls - They Have To Pay For Completed Call. Keep Them Talking As Long As Possible With Fake Info So They Have To Pay More.
Just called me at 11:56 am. I did not answer, and based on these comments I am glad that I did not. I generally don't answer strange numbers. It's funny that they hung up only after one ring.
My Mistake. Never Give Them Any Information. The Call Doesn't Cost Them Much At All.
At 2:09PM 2/9/2011 I received a call from (701) 509-8703. A computer generated voice claiming to be Boeing Credit Union stated that my account has had fraudulent activity. Press 1 to be connected to a security agent. I did nothing and it disconnected. I do not have an account there so I assume it was a scam.
