Caller ID says "Verify". Left some kind of call back # and then "thank you". Looks like spam.
I have a AOL email account. In order for me to get my message, I have to have home phone number or cell phone where they can call you and give you 6 digits security code to put in on your aol account.
I was just going through my calls today, and couldn't remember what VERIFY and this number was for, so looked it up. This number is legit. I had suspicious activity on my Microsoft account (which is my hotmail email) so they wanted to verify that I am me at login. I didn't go through any links in their emails, I went in through my account. The suspicious activity was me (I logged into a new youtube account and used my hotmail address as a backup), so I just needed to make up a new password to verify it was me. You were given the option of having the verification code to one of the phone numbers, either by call or by text. I had an old cell number in there so couldn't get a text and had to opt for phone. The phone rings immediately upon selecting phone...
Another in the Verizon to AOL email migration camp. Call from VERIFY came immediately after web site entry to allow process to be completed. If all you're getting is a verification code, without other ways to scam you, and you haven't done anything to expect a verification call, then either somebody's trying something like stealing an account you previously set up with your phone number as verification source, or somebody's entering your phone number when setting up their account, either accidentally or on purpose.I would guess that if you're getting multiple calls, it's somebody trying to steal an account by password guessing, not realizing that there's a verification code involved. Probably the only thing to do in that case if it continues is try to figure out what account it might be and plead with them to lock your account against changes or suggest they add some sort of timeout for change attempts. (And still being careful that timeouts provide a way for scumbags to prevent YOU from making any changes.)
Several calls in last 3 days, including 3:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Gives 5 digit code. If you call back, they tell you if you did not request a verification code, then some else did using your phone number. That sounds like scam to me or someone trying to access a bank account perhaps, if they have your phone number. Finally hit "block" on my phone.
