I got a recorded message about credit card rates. I called the Do Not Call registry right away. We'll see if I get this call again. Hopefully the more of these we report the more the registry will be armed to investigate and stop these calls!
Called last month. Called this month. Caller ID said "Out of area" (last month it was V and a string of numbers).
Caller ID came up "CLEARWATER FL", and no VM left. Called back from a Google Voice (generic number comes up in caller ID), and heard the BS credit card pitch- also the "press 3 to have your number removed..." Google creates an email based on the call- do you suppose I can get the robocaller for violating DNC and the Can Spam Act at the same time?
Received a few phone calls from this number including one just a few minutes ago. Some have been hangups, messages and the one today. said that I am calling about your credit card and the everything is ok with it. Then a speel about qualifying for either another card, line of credit, etc. I just hang up. Sounds like a scam to me. Don't give out any info.Call come up Out of Area on caller id plus 1-727-674-9999 on September 26, 2011 at 2:19 pm.
reporting them doesn't seem to work either. I have been on the national do not call registry since shortly after it started and have been reporting them to www.donotcall.gov many times yet I still get these calls. I have noticed they seem to come in spurts. I get calls from them for maybe a week then none for months.
Finally pressed # to speak with someone since pressing 3 for no interest does not work. A man came on the line and asked if i was interested in lowering APR on my credit card. I asked what credit card company he represented. His answer was , MasterCard /visa. I said, so you do not represent my particular bank? There was a pause and the only thing he said before hanging up was, "shut up [***]". I am still in shock and would love to know how to put a stop to that. I hit *57 and initiated a trace but the automated message said that only law enforcement can retrieve that information. Any suggestions are welcome... That was ridiculous and has put me in a rotten mood.
Thank God for call block - I can't believe how annoying these calls are! Several times a day is just out of control. Apparently the calls are made by jail inmates.
