Here is a thought, If you see a number on your caller ID that you don't know, Don't answer it. It's as simple as that. If they leave a message delete it. Not too hard to figure out now is it? I agree, they are a pain in the a$$, but in the same token, it's like watching a T.V. show, you can choose not to watch, the same as you can choose not to answer. If they call hit talk and then hit end. Simple and they don't really bother you. They just inconvenienced you a little bit. They can't get any information from you by ringing your phone. Only you can supply that info. so the easiest way to stop them is DON'T TALK TO THEM!
Just got a call from this number. Showed up as 'V09121231210125' on my caller ID. So I picked it up and listened. Something about lowering interest rates on my credit card. I hit 1 to speak with someone. A very nice girl came on the line, and I told her I have no credit cards and that they need to stop calling me or I'll get the law involved. She said "sorry" and that she'd take me 'off the list' then hung up. Still so annoying!
I believe this 727 674-9999 is registered to Pinellas County FL. I will contact the AG in FL and attempt to reverse call the number to try to find out the name of the company; it may be NCO group
Yeah, When you punch 3 they simply use that as a way to forward your number to other companies that are in their network of companies. It's like answering an email link that is put in an email to unsubscribe from scam. It actually forwards the information to other people and the chain keeps rolling. Here is the best option. Don't answer their calls, don't click the unsubscribe link in an email, educate yourself as to how the scam industry operates and FOR GOD'S SAKE, STOP LIKING EVERYTHING ON FACEBOOK! They are the biggest reason these calls started in the first place. Don't enter sweepstakes offers in the mail. Don't try to win a new car at the mall. This all leads to them contacting you and if you look at the fine print on the NDNC list you will see that if you initiated the contact it is completely legal for them to contact you. Be careful what you do and to whom you give your information. It's the easiest way to not receive these annoying calls. Obviously I've made the same mistakes and that's why I'm posting on this board. Not exactly sure what I "Liked" on Facebook, but that's when it all started.
that's why I have caller ID & an answering machine on my land-line (don't most phones) - if I don't recognize a number I DON'T answer it. For people w/elderly parents or are taking care of someone, figure it this way...if it's important THEY WILL LEAVE A MESSAGE, that's what answering machines are for - and it's true if you answer the phone & it's any type of mrkt'g firm it's a green light to them to keep calling you - I get calls all the time for telemarketers and we're on a do not call list and NO it doesn't help to tell them to take your name of the list, blah blah blah - they don't listen - if you report them, they WILL change their number (oh & BTW, these people had the gall to leave a pre-recorded message on my answering machine; "reduce your interest on your credit card account")
These [***] have been calling my house forever. Just got another at 11:30 am today. I wish I knew where to find their offices in Florida. I would pay them a FRIENDLY visit.
Yeah, Okay Mikey, The thing is in order for you to file a complaint and qualify to file a lawsuit against the offender, you have to tell them to stop calling. This call should be taken only one time. After that you have made the caller aware of the fact that you don't want their calls anymore and you have started the legal action necessary to be able to file suit. If you go through the right steps and these people continue to call, you can hire an attorney and be eligible for a $5,000.00 award from the offending party. If you don't tell them not to call you are giving them permission TO call. To put it simply answer the phone tell them you don't have any credit cards. Tell them they are wasting their time calling you. Tell them you don't want their calls anymore and that you ARE on the National Do Not Call list. Once you have done this, you have set up your intent to legal action. Document the Name of the company calling, the phone number, the time and the date of the call. Keep this information so if they call again, you can show that there have been multiple violations. On the date that you file with NDNC, you should have the information from the first call as well as information from the next call. It will help them to see if there is a connection if more than one number is being used. Keep reporting them and if enough people do it, Maybe these people can actually be stopped. The problem is most people don't make report and not enough people are complaining so the NDNC is unaware of that the problem is as big as it really is. Don't be afraid to take the call, just know how to handle the call.
even tho this call gives you an option not to be called again; they keep calling again and again. when I dial the number a recording says check the number and dial again.
we have registered EVERY phone we have, both land and cell and we still get the calls. I've reported a number and will keep trying, but I think that the FCC is overwhelmed.
