They are changing what they do. This time a live person called and made a short announcement, then I was transfered to a recording about extended car warranties. I didn't know what number to hit and they hung up on me.This is SCAM because they call you and play a recording. I would not waste time when these jerks call you. Instead, go to the FTC site and complain, or call 1-888-382-1222 and file a complaint with the FTC over the phone. It's an easy, automated system, and if enough people call it may help.
Have receive calls before. Starts with computer telling me to press 1 if I want to lower my credit card interest rate (with no card company named!). Pressing 1 got me disconnected a couple of times but finally today it went through to the same voice that the computer used to persuade me to press the number 1. The spiel about lowering my interest rate on my credit card began . However I barged in and asked "Which card are you calling about?" To which the reply was a vague "Well do you owe more than $5,000 on all of your cards?" "Yes" I said. "What is your interest rate?" "For which card?" Which resulted in her hanging up. Seems pretty fishy to me. Called the number and got, "The number you have dialed is invalid. Please check your listing and try again."
Came through on the TV as Out Of State...just didn't answer it. They can stick it where the sun doesn't shine...their problem, their dime...screw them...
Go the call too. I am also on the DNC list. All telemarketers are scamers. No exceptions. Never, ever do business with someone who calls you out of the blue. The same goes for the police charities.
2/18/09 2:43pm estI said hello and loud metal music played, sounded like a chain saw with someone screaming. I listened a few minutes until they hung up. I called the number back and it said that I reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service.
They are spoofing the number and phishing for personal info. They keep calling. I don't have a credit card.
Everyone keeps saying Dish Network. I have NEVER been a customer. Nor anyone in my family. When I answer their call, I just get this obnoxiously loud music. It doesn't even sound like typical holding music. Everytime I call back, it says the number has been disconnected. I get calls for my credit cards (which I have none), my mortage (which I do not have), and my expiring factory warranty on a car I don't even own anymore. Just STOP answering calls you don't know the number for. Virginia, and California seem to be the most common area codes I get the calls from. I have tried calling everyone who is supposed to be taking care of this and it has had no effect. I just stopped answering the calls. If they want something, they can find a better way to get a hold of me.
Call from "out of state". No message.
Recvd unwanted call from this #I'm listed as "no solicitor calls" on my cell phone
Just called my cell phone. I did not pick up because I did not know the area code. Did not leave a message.
