Well I never applied for an auto loan and so when I picked up and heard some guy talking about being 'approved' for one--I was like 'what the [***]?'. They've called my phone several times and so this time I opted to pick up and see what the deal was--and when I demanded how the hell they got my damn information, what this was all about--first, he attempted to continue talking over me about all the crap they offered, etc, so I hung up before they transferred me to the 'processing department'.
I finally talked to these people and they called themselves Auto Loan Experts. I asked for their phone number and they said it was an 866 number. When I did *69 it came back as 770-783-5969. I asked for a supervisor who spoke english and got another person with a heavier India accent. I made it clear that I was to be put on their DNC list and if I got another call from them they would be hearing from my lawyer. They hung up quick. The 770 number is connected through Villa Rica, GA. I will be contacting the local authorities there and seeing what can be done about the calls.
These #$@%^&! are foreigners that are exempt from the U.S. do not call rules. Our government needs to block these calls from entering our country's phone systems. Surely there must be an American politition getting kick-back!
During the last week I have received on average 2 to 3 calls per day. Each time I pick up I get nothing but silence. I tied calling back, but the message that played is so garbled you can't understand anything. I have reported each and every incident to the FTC. I didn't apply for anything and am on the DO NOT CALL registry.
Last night we got a call from this number. The caller ID said DONT ANSWER so we didn't and now I'm glad I didn't.
my mom answered the phone and they asked for me the guy with a heavy accent said i was approved for an auto loan and they needed to verify some information. i politely stated that one i dont recall applying and two im not interested the guy told me i applied by email and recited my email to me when i again said no thank you im not interested he said well f u m f and hung up then i looked at r caller id to see if i would call and ask to speak to a supervisor and then saw that it said DONT ANSWER 770 783 5969 so i went and deleted my email and changed other stuff to.
My family also got a call by that number and the ID showed up as "Don't Answer". When a caller ID prohibits you from answering your phone its tempting to defy it and actually answer. But no one in the house did answer. They left a message and it sounded like there was a bunch of background noise and someone talking. Listened to it a couple times and couldn't understand a word of it. Our only theory is that a family member was checking out some car dealers and the number got passed out to some low people in the search for a car. When talking to Car Dealers or anyone or business selling cars make sure they're legit and don't give out your number if you have a doubt. Even if they don't bother you, someone that got handed your number might.
I have gotten two calls from 770 783 5969 at my work. The caller id says Sixtel, LLC. I work in CS so I had to answer the phone. 1st time there was nothing on the other end. 2nd time a man with a heavy middle eastern accent answered and said i was approved for an auto loan that I applied for online, which I never did. I hung up.
At approximately 5:40pm on 07/26/08, two males with heavy accents called my husbands cellphone asking for me. They identified themselves and said they were calling from an auto loan company to advise me that my auto loan was approved. When I asked me what the interest was on the loan, they wouldn't specify the interest amount on the approved loan. I told them that I dont do anything over the phone/Internet & prefer to submit loans at a dealership. Then, I hung up.
