hopefully everyone already knows that there is no possible way they can take you to jail because you owe them money not a chance...garnish wages MAYBE but it is hard to do unless it is a student loan or federal debt. DONT EVER PAY
DO NOT SEND THESE PEOPLE MONEY!!!! This company is a scam they are trying to defraud people that do not know any better by intimidation. They will claim you owe an old debt and there is a "pending county" matter against you. Mind that they can't even tell you what county you are in most of the time. There are 2-3 people in their office and when you call the same people use different names and sometimes try to disguise their voices. The people behind this will probably end up in jail at some point, but they are going to scam a lot of people out of money before they do so. They ususally say something like there was a car reposessed years ago and there is still money owed on it. If you pay them X amount of dollars they will settle the pending civil complaint. They will also say they are working for or associated with a law firm in New York, which doesn't even exits. This is all about intimidation and BS. People who do not know better get freaked out and send these people money to make the "civil matter" go away. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. DO NOT BE A VICTIM! I have reported them to the FCC, Georgia Attorney General and Texas Attorney General. Unfortunately, these agencies are somewhat slow to investigate and react, so the more complaints people make the better.
This is a scam to defraud people out of money the do not and have never owed. These people will eventually end up in jail.
This is a scam. Please call and report these people to the Georgia Attorney General. The more complaints they get the quicker they will take action. Here is the number to the Georgia Attorney General's Office:(404) 656-3300Please report them, unless enough people make a stink these people will not be stopped.
I received a call from this company 10/4/07. Stating that I owe $10,043.49 after an 11 year repo. They stated I have until 10/6/07 to make payment arrangements. Well Thank God for my husband, who requested I Google the phone number...and look what I found out! I and my mother have been pulling our hair out these past two days and probably would have just gave up and began to pay! Thanks to my husband and we will HANDLE THIS!Thanks for info!
A lady named Mary Baxter called and said I had a case number against me concerning a very old debt. Upon further discussion and my denial of the debt she asked a lot of questions giving names of my dead father and other relations also a social security number ending with someones other than mine, possibly my dads? At this point I felt she was trying to put together a data base from the questions she asked so I said you have the wrong person and hung up on her. I am now going to file a complaint with the Georgia Attorney General as mentioned above. 404-656-3300
Acted like a police office and wanted me or my attorney to call them back. Acted surprised that i had not returned his previous call from 3 months ago. What a jerk. Best way to handle these type of calls is to blow a referee's whistle into the month piece of your telephone when that least expect it. It hurts their ears. They never call back. You get on the S* list.
First call came to our home: Mary Baxter, threatened the same as in all the rest, jail, sheriff, etc. Second call to my mother's home (she's 88), scared her; third call to husband's cell, same thing again, but this time a man, Donald Bradley, told to get back in touch with Investigator Baxter; third call to father in NJ; same thing again. Called back, debt they spoke of was settled in a bankruptcy 20 years ago! Will report to FCC, Attorney General in Georgia, Attorney General in Virginia and Attorney General in New Jersey. This is crazy - cannot believe they have not been investigated yet - our government at work! Will also call local TV station and report the scam.
I received a strange phone message from a Mr. Don Bradley(stated his title was lead investigator), calling about a civil action suit against someone in Union County, North Carolina. I wondered how in the hell is he calling me in Georgia about someone else's debt in North Carolina. He asked me if I knew this person, I replied by telling him , "Maybe". He stated it was very imperative that this person calls him or he would be delivered a subpeona from Union County Sheriff's office to appear in court. I asked him if would elaborate on the details of the case. He told me, "no"; however, he did have the person last four of social security number.(How scary). Well, I goggled the phone number and found numerous complaints from other people. They called my sister, left an urgent message on her message machine for me to call them asap. Gave a claim number and was to speak to a Mrs. Thatcher, they told me I could either settle the matter or get a supoena to get it taken care of in court. They told me I would also get a warrant issued for my arrest. These people are rude, dont fall victim. Call the authorities, Dont give them any information!! Other numbers they use 404-492-7970. They say you can go to jail, dont believe them, you cant go to jail for oweing someone money. That is a civil matter.
