These guys almost scammed me. Same story. Microsoft windows. My computer had spyware, adware, and a virus. Wanted me to go to website AAMMYY..remote control of my computer. I got smart and called microsoft and they said they would never call anyone.
Receiving calls from 0 and 1800-123-4567Indian telling me I have a virus. Although he couldnt name my service provider, It would cost me $50 since I was on the "hitlist". I gave him a few choice words.They are persistent in calling so the best advice is to answer the call and let them know you arent dealing with them...These people are call center leeches.
Just received this call today.Same story. Guy with Indian accent saying calling from Microsoft saying my computer was compromised and had a virus. he wanted to see if I was logged into my computer. I pressed him for more information he just hung up.
Yes I too got the same call for a $309.00 tune-up.... About the time I got the call I was having problems with my computer. Like a dummy I sent the money,,,, They did put some clean-up programs on my computer.The other day I got a call from the same people, saying that there was a mix up, and they was going to send my money back, because they had found mistake in billing and the money would be sent back, and correctedThey wanted my credit card number, I did send it to them.... I figured if it's a scam I can have my card CO delete the any future pay-out......So it's over a week and no $309.00 refund....... I don't know if I can ever get the money back,,,,,, At 84 years old I should know better, or better yet I'm to old to have a computer......
