My letter was also from WALMART Synchrony Bank requesting that I call this number to verify information on a credit application that I certainly did not apply for. What should I do about this? My first thought is to contact the 3 credit beareaus to report possible fraudulent activity. This is an inconvenience.
Hi, I just received this letter from Synchrony bank saying I was denied a credit card. I never even heard of this bank so I went online ad saw your comment. I am wondering what should I do? I am only 19 and don't know much about things like this. Please tell me your advice.

I got the similar letter, it said that "Thank you for your recent credit application with Amazon.com store card...". I checked it's fake.
Update: please call the correct number from the bank to check instead of the number from the letter, incase somebody did use your info to apply for any credit card.
I received a letter today thanking me "for my recent credit application with WALMART."I do not shop at Walmart and would never apply for a card through them. The phone number it gave is: 800-480-0186 and the PO Box appears to be the same as some of the others, Fraud Prevention Department, Synchrony Bank PO Box 965002 Orlando FL 32896-5002I called Experian to put a fraud alert on my credit and ordered a credit report. Turns out, I had four credit inquires, obviously from identity theft...someone trying to open accounts with my credit, all on the same day.I believe this letter to be a phishing scam. Since some of these posts go back a couple years, it is unbelievable how it could still continue with the same 800 number. I would advise taking the time to put a fraud alert on your credit and check activity through one of the three agencies: Equifax, Experian, Trans Union.
