Call said we had received a defective phone and needed to send it back to the company-we never orderd a phone!

SAME HIS NAME WAS JOE AND GAVE A RMA #

Got a call saying that i have not recieved my replacement phone and when i do to return my defective phone. The problem is, that i dont have a defective phone. I called AT&T and the gentleman said that he showed no record it. The guy said it sounds like phishing or a scam.

Hi, I also received a call a claiming, if i don't return a phone they had supposedly shipped in February, I would be charged $425. I also received a text message from a different number last week stating that I need to return a "handset". Needless to say, I didn't order or receive anything. The caller claimed to be working 'on behalf' of AT&T. This 800 number was the call back number. The call actually came from: 508-623-2299.

got a call about returning a defective phone from the same phone numbers as the previous messages on the behalf of AT&T.

So, it's now one month later and we have a $425 charge on our AT&T bill. As previously stated, we never ordered or replaced anything. My wife is currently on the phone with AT&T to get this charge removed and to file an identity theft report.

I received the same call thing, the company might seem or might be legitimate but I NEVER PUT IN A CLAIM FOR A REPLACEMENT PHONE? Its scary that At&t would give information to people that are not named on your account. Unfortunately mine might go a bit further because it sounds like someone is putting a claim against the phone that I currently hold? I don't think its ok for At&t to let people who are NOT on your account put in claims? They gave me the name of the person and although they hold my same last name I HAVE NO IDEA who that person is yet because this person had the last 4 digits of my ss# & I guess my phone number they sending phones in this imposters direction? Why would they mail telephones to an address that is not even the address on my account? I am visiting a store and getting to the bottom of this!!

rec'd a call today...same as ziggi...I don't have a defective phone. And they did call on behalf of AT&T.

I have been getting the same call, nearly every day. The message says that it is AT&T and that they haven't recieved their defective phone. If we don't return it, we will be charged. Like the others, we don't have a defective phone.
